The gear shift knob is held on by some splines it takes a little force but it will come off . I removed mine and made a wooden handle for it, and the emergency brake ,turn signal .
on the neutral safety switch i would check that first.

Two BIG thumbs up for your outside the box thinking! 💡 💡 Your repairs are very nice and I doubt anyone could see the patch.I know I can’t.
It seems like 99% of the fixes for our cars is sort of “seat of the pants” type. Kind of ,”This just might WORK!” then it DOES! That’s why I keep a big pile of scrap metal around.

Well, an automatic is unique. Make sure the shifter is adjusted correctly and the circuit is complete while in the park position. If that’s the case than the neutral safety switch would be suspect.

That doesn’t look bad at all. It’s unique. No two of these cars are alike.
Carry on.👍

I got the grill out, those 4 bolts did it. I replaced all the grill bars with golf club shafts. I know they are round and not like what was originally in the grill but a MG replica by it’s nature isn’t original. I think the round shafts look good and certainly a lot cheaper, cost was zero. See photos how I attached them. Talking about photos I am…[Read more]

Seems I’ve happened across three TDr’s for sale in Maine this summer. This one is waaaaay up there in Hancock. Has kind of a strange front-end with a single orange lamp in the center.
From the craigslist ad:
“This is about 80% done. Chassis is 63 VW with 70s 1600 engine needs wiring done have carpet and new top/frame and it needs some switches…[Read more] -

I was given a classic roadster duchess/ work in progress project car. Its on a 85 chevette chassis. The car will only start in neutral not in park. Any Ideas?
Also have been trying to remove the gear shift knob to replace but it will not budge… Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Pull new rims and tires on “Sammy” my Chevette powered BCW. Original rims (5) for sale – VW with chrome trim rings and center hubcap with MG medallion. Not sure how much to ask, so make an offer. The medallions cost $10 each and I am going to buy 5 more since I have a need for them.

Not a kit car, but almost as nice. 1952 MGTD with 1964 Volvo P1800 engine and transmission. MGA chrome wire wheels and MGA suspension and brakes. Had been in storage for about 35 years. Every system checked and repaired. Runs and drives great. Top and side curtains are excellent. Interior is black leather and in very good shape. Wood floors…[Read more]

I missed this post initially since I use the Ford/Chevy forum almost exclusive. This is a really a cool project and I wish you many happy hours in the garage.

Good find. The parts for the “real” MGs can be quite expensive but more venders means more chances for good deals. Moss, Victoria British, Rimmer Bros.
More is better.

Hi folks,
In your travels through the real and virtual car worlds, please keep your eyes out for a solid, running TDr in British racing green. Power train really doesn’t matter.
I know someone looking for a complete, running, green TDr. She is not in a position to build or restore.

If I Â recall correctly, Classic Roadsters had mods for either the Ford or Chevy drivetrains. This many years later, it would not surprise me to see “hybrids” out there.
