Hi all – I am still having some trouble feeling like the steering on the car is right. I did a complete front-end rebuild and lowered the air pressure in the tires to about 21 pounds. At lower speeds the car feels like it is tracking just fine and responsive. Once I hit about 50 and above it feels like it wants to move on its own. The steering is…[Read more]

Long-time no-post, fellas. Been busy at work & stuff. Today it was mid-50s so I got back after my fenders.
They’re starting to shape-up OK, I think.

Yes, our tubs are not all the same size. I had my custom made tonneau over to Jack’s house a few years ago. It fit perfectly on my Daytona Migi, but was not close enough to be adapted to his Fiberfab or on his BCW.
My Daytona has the top bows mounted on top of the tub. Many TDr’s have them mounted inside the tub. So, when my top is folded dow…[Read more]

Steve,
I also have a London Roadster and the tonneau cover from MG Magic fits nicely. I’m very pleased with fit, quality, and price. I think it was $195.00 best I can remember.

Hi Ed,
I checked the path and it looks good. I think it failed as a result of the beating the car took in the towing down here from PA. I should have flat towed or shipped but it’s too late now to cry over spilled milk.

Make Posada the second night then!

edward ericson replied to the topic Speedo Problems in the forum VW Based Kits 8 years, 5 months ago
That should do it.
When you check the cable, check the path from speedometer to hub. Look for kinks or sharp bends. Mine had one and I’m pretty sure that’s why it failed. I re-routed the new one more carefully and it’s been good since.

The speedo on my LR went out last year and they are easy to trouble shoot. You might get kind of oily, though.
1)You’ll need to remove the grease cap from the front hub. Make sure the hole in the grease cap is nice and square. It’s made out of very hard steel, so it probably will be. If it’s rounded, replaced it.
2)While still attached to the…[Read more]

Hey guys,
My speedo has died on me. I want to ask a couple of questions before I start chasing gremlins around and breaking more things on the way.
I haven’t pulled the grease cap on the wheel to check on the cable itself. The needle was stuck at 55 and the odo is not moving. I disconnected the cable from the back of the speedo and moved the…[Read more]

It’s 540 miles to La Posada Hotel in Winslow, AZ. If you’re in a hurry, that’s your first overnight stop. It’s worth the stop.

We will try driving as much of route 66 as we can starting from Santa Monica Ca which is the beganing or the end of 66? I believe?? This will be my last big ride (trip) so will make the most of it and see what is left of the old country , before it’s all gone as parts of it are already gone now!! Still planning the route right now.
Thank you for…[Read more]
