That settles it! Paul, where’s your house on this map? And when are you going on vacation, so we can all show up, empty your freezer onto your grill, and lounge in your pool?

Hey, Cliff: Welcome aboard. If your car really has 100 horsepower it will be one of the stronger TD replicas out there. It weighs about 1800 pounds (200 less than the original TD), and has twice the power of a stock VW engine.
A few Julys ago, I saddled-up my 1500-cc(?), 46-horse BCW, loaded in a couple day’s provisions, and my wife, and drove…[Read more]

While connecting the MC brake switch wiring, I found the MC leaking at the top front fitting from the reservoir. The rubber plug that the tube fits through appeared to be the culprit and it was. Just wasn’t pushed in enough. With that fixed, tomorrow I’ll rebelled the brakes. Getting closer.

Decided to go ahead and change the wire colors to match the rest of my made harness. Getting the red (brake) and green (tail) light wires through the bottom of the socket was a learning experience. I had to cut and solder the wires up next to the button connector, then feed them through the socket, then add the heat shrink and feed the wires…[Read more]

It would depend on the schedule of course, but participants in a Lehigh Valley Covered Bridge tour could end up dining in my back yard and swimming in my pool. There’s even room for a few of ya’ll to sleep over, and plenty of reasonable hotels in the area as well.
Of course, if I’m not home, I guess I’d never know if you used the pool anyway!

I think that’s a wise decision Allen.
Git ‘er done, driver her a bit, then decide if you need additional rear-vision.

Hi Cliff,
Welcome aboard.
The Allison is a nice car!
I say you will be fine with a 102 hp 1700 cc engine.
Just be ready for the engine noise! An aircooled VW engine will turn approximately 3,000 rpm at 60 mph. That’s likely higher than your daily driver, and is necessary for proper air flow and cooling. Aircooled engines are by nature louder…[Read more]

Finally got to the dash redo. I found a piece of Curatinga redwood (never heard of that) at a great resource for different and exotic wood, just south of Knoxville. A woodworker friend planed it down and cut the holes for the gauges, switches and indicator lights, and I sealed and finished it.
Here’s the earlier one:

That Lehigh Valley tour looks pretty cool. We should consider that. A bridge tour from Carlisle sounds promising as well.🚗💨💨

Thanks for posting that, Paul. I think I want to do it…
And yeah, Allen, there have been a couple cruises from the Carlisle field that included covered bridges. Probably time to resurrect.
