How early were you suggesting meeting? And where did we meet last time? Two years is too long ago for my feeble memory.
The drive straight from my house by the shortest highway route is just over six hours via the bay bridge/tunnel route (I-476 to I-95 to DE-1 to US-113 S and US-13 S to 30th St in Virginia Beach, the bay/bridge tunnel…[Read more]

The suggestion was made last year concerning arrival time in VA Beach. I’m OK with leaving a couple hours earlier, but Paul that makes your departure time really really early. Any thoughts, suggestions, derissions?

The coil has two connections where smaller wires are either bolted or push-on connected. On one side (terminal #1) is a thin wire (usually green) that goes from the coil to the distributor (or electronic ignition module); on the other side (terminal 15) are wires (usually black) that brings power from the ignition switch; a fused wire to the b…[Read more]

Thank you Roy. That was very nice of you to say.
Of course, Henry Reisner gets the credit!

I have attended our local Volksfest for several years now and have always been accepted. I have an illustration in my showbook called “The Versatile Volkswagen” which lists the many re-purposes of VWs, including replicas. This is a low key, small-town event where egos are held in check. It’s fun and every year I find something at a vendor boot…[Read more]

John, “Why should I let these people irritate me?” – my sentiments exactly! I might just as well have played golf if I really wanted to get angry.
Strangely, I don’t get this vibe from the Air and Auto Show in Virginia Beach, Va. …and that event is hosted by a large Porsche club. I’m very interested in seeing how the Porsche club there acc…[Read more]

I’ve never gotten a good vibe from either car shows or car clubs. I used to belong to the Porsche club in another city and found it extremely clique-ish. Should have called it the “brag club.” I overheard one member telling someone that he owned “the fastest Cayman in North America.” I belonged for two years waiting to meet someone fri…[Read more]

I just venting this morning after yesterday’s experience at the show. Fact is more people were stopping to take pics and look inside the car than either the MGB or MGC I was parked between. So at least the general public recognized something different enough to stop and comment or take pics. That was appreciated after all the work that I have put…[Read more]

That is a sad story.I guess there will always be those who look down their noses. They are the NOOU (not one of US) 🙄 types.
I took my LondonRoadster to a European car show last year and well received. Lots of people came and asked about it. I had one gentleman come up and chat who had several MG’s in the past; A’s, B’s, TD’s and he was very…[Read more]

Have read about some inferred cases of MG bigotry on our site but had my first personal encounter yesterday. Our town sponsors a Britsh car shown every August which over the last 8 years has grown to attract over 200 vehicles from the 1930’s up to current day models. As they do not have a judging class for replicas I could not register the TDR.…[Read more]

Kent, Great idea. I was in the process of installing hi-lift rockers a few months ago when my eyes went goofy (double vision) and I lost interest in the project. So….I just happen to have a brand new “kit”. The biggest problem that Jack has is that he is always (as in ALWAYS) working on tweaking something, or improving something, or not. …[Read more]

Again, I’d start with the emulsion tubes, before changing jets. You might just be encountering the infamous 009 flat spot, but a bit richer transition circuit should help.
Why do I now sense high lift rockers in your future? 😉

Well, best would likely be when you convert it to fuel injection! I am collecting together the required pieces to do just that to mine. maybe even a turbo if an appropriate one turns up in my travels!

Increasing the squirt on the acc pump helped a lot — now I have just a little hesitation off of idle, which I can compensate for by easing down on the throttle.
So right now, I’ll stick with the Pertronix non-vacuum advance distributor that is in the car.
I ordered an assortment of jets and a set of F11 emulsion tubes. Let the GAMES…[Read more]

At least you still found new ideas to make that usable, unlike mine, just ruined it after removing its cushions. But this thing gives me new experience to invent something unique.. though mine really just needs a massive repair, I thought of doing something that is different. I installed wood type recliner instead, I found some good materials from…[Read more]
