My boards are not cut.

You should be able to go both ways. The top should fold down and then be covered by the tonneau. If the top is removed you obviously would have more room.

Well, zero progress has been made on the car.

My wife blessed me with a beautiful and healthy son, July 1st at 10:16am.  His name is Stirling.
