Yes, the boards are cut for the pockets. The exact construction is a mystery to me, since i paid a pro to do it. The vinyl is marine grade. I copied the Moss replacements for the original vehicles.

I have some thin cracked material behind my panels. I was thinking of using door skin form Home Depot to support the material.

Bill, Ed. Did either of you cut the hardboard where the door pocket is? Thanks for your replies.

Same here. Masonite with a thin foam pad added.

I used the hardboard type stuff they make pegboard out of. No holes, solid, about an eighth inch or maybe 3/16 thick. I could not make my own door cards because the pockets required a pro.

Need to install the door panel upholstery. I don’t think any manual actually calls for installing 3/16″ cardboard underneath the upholstery but I’m thinking of adding it. has anyone used something as a backer for the door upholstery? If so, what did you use.

My car came to me from a previous owner/builder but when researching front end height I noticed that one manual says cut and turn the top tube and the other says do the bottom tube. One of many differences I suppose. My top tube is turned, but not to the 90 degrees suggested.

Nice story Vicenç!
To the other point raised in this thread, let us not forget Blue Ball Pennsylvania. Originally settled by men who almost made it to Intercourse, but were stopped at the town line. 😯

Good news Allen.
Can’t wait for you to run into an original 53 TD owner who tries to steal your plate! 😉

Voices are the unique members that have replied to the thread.
For example if two members have each posted a dozen replies…there would be 24 replies and two voices.

Not a rant at all. This is good info for anyone trying to build from a kit.
Thanks Allen!

As many know, CMC purchased Fiberfab when Fiberfab decided to stop TDr production. I am an owner of one of those kits and there is more differences than just the kit parts. When checking the Fiberfab manual and comparing it against CMC’s manual, I found the Fiberfab manual is less confusing to use. Just one instance is the windshield…[Read more]

Pennsylvania has a lot of interesting place names, Intercourse, Mars, Jersey Shore (which is neither in Jersey nor at the shore), Bird In Hand, and the ever popular Blue Ball. 😀
I know the Amish can accept rides in cars yet don’t own them, however, whenever I ride the car in Amish country the young Amish boys always look and some of them…[Read more]
