Just figur out how many circuits you need and buy a Painless wiring kit. Go on there site it will ask what stearling coloum ect. I use the universal looms. It’s easy to follow. Remember it’s only one wire at a time.

Hey Ed,
I’ll PM you about that intake manifold — thanks….Good point on the PVC in the engine compartment. No issues so far, but I don’t have the engine cover and side fiberglass panels on the car yet.The PVC pipe that is probably the most vulnerable is the “drain” fitting coming off of the passenger side heater box. The air itself is not tha… -

Great story & sounds hella fun.
I’m gonna reiterate John’s concern with using PVC pipe in an automotive engine setting. That stuff melts at about 150C. Easy to form and bend with a heat gun! So watch carefully. In case this rig gives you trouble, I have in my possession a Holley/Weber progressive intake that includes the stock heat riser provision.… -

GROAN —
Thanks Allen — I guess it is Holley Jolly new year — and if it turns out to be less jolly with the Holley, I can always go back to a stock carburetor — or save my pennies and then splurge on those extra fine Weber dual Carbs…. -

Glad that’s sorted, Jack. And yeah, sounds like the early stock gears, which work fine,

We used an old Bug Spray single port manifold that I had lying around. It had no heat risers and I was a bit concerned about carb icing. With the adaptation of the single port manifold (which we cut) to the dual port intake end pieces with the rubber boots and the upgrade to an alternator, there simply wasn’t enough space to put exhaust m…[Read more]

Great ingenuity, yes, but aren’t you worried about what heat from the engine will do to the plastic? Are you sure it won’t catch fire or melt?johnsimion2016-01-09 11:44:19

Great story on great ingenuity. I’m glad you two have the TDr’s to occupy your time. The rest of the world remains safe.

Warning! Do not try this at home. This modification upgrade (?) Was performed by untrained reckless amateurs with too much time on their hands. (Not to mention – too much coffee.)”Have Holley – Will travel.” (Paladin. Protector of the weak.)Royal2016-01-09 03:07:44

It really is a question that only you can answer. But, were it me, I’d steer clear of the Mustang. I drive my cars and hate (as in HATE) rust which is inevitable on the Ford as well as the Porsche [:-)]! And if you don’t think Porsche parts and repair are costly, make a few phone calls and ask how much to tune up a Boxster. Read and re-read…[Read more]

I also agree with the S2000, as well as a Miata, but (a), neither was on Greg’s list, and (b), neither would be feasible if Greg is much over 6′ (and my TDR would not work for me, either, if I couldn’t have lowered the seats and cranked the back waaaay back). Given Greg’s list, any Corvette sounds like both a good choice and a safe one, too.…[Read more]

Hey Ed,
Just got the car running well again (messed with jetting, had water in the gas, had plugged fuel filters, had bad distributor and fouled spark plugs — I think that’s about all you can have wrong at one time when you are trying to figure out what was wrong with the #$%&^* engine………:?The final answer is 3100 RPM — at 60… -

then my vote is for the Boxster. -

Ok here’s my vote. Even though I have a Cobra replica, I’m still pretty much a Chevy guy when it comes to vintage cars so I vote for the Corvette — no matter what year you choose. Also, for what it’s worth I have found that older Chevy parts are much more easily obtained and way cheaper that Ford parts. Plus I think the Corvette will hold it’s…[Read more]

Ha!Just noticed a typo in your initial post Greg. But it might not be wrong!Porache instead of Porsche. Pronounced “Poor Ache”Definition: The feeling Porsche owners have when they visit their service department!

This is akin to asking someone where the best pizza is. Or is thin crust better than deep dish? (The answer to the latter is yes, by the way!
)That said…I’m with Ed on the Honda S2000. Honda reliability in a true sports car.I would consider going further up the Honda food chain. Step up to a used Acura NSX. One of the Speedster guys just sold…[Read more]

As a former Boxster owner, I could not recommend that car. I bought into the hype and regretted it very much. I think Porsche designs its cars for auto magazine testers who don’t have to actually live with them. They have fantastic performance that does you absolutely no good except at the track, but they have lots of annoying issues, and th…[Read more]
