I’ll assume that you are going to rebuild the carb. After you do and before re-installing on the manifold, turn the carb upside down and blow into the fuel inlet. It will give you some confidence that the float is actually going to stop fuel when the bowl is “full”. (As a side benefit, it takes me back 60+ years to when I used to siphon gas out…[Read more]

Well some improvement is better than none! I always hate when I am chasing a problem and replace things that don’t actually affect anything!
Ouch! Hope your hand heals quickly!!!With the float level, you may not have to adjust it, but make sure the little plastic retainer is in the right way. See this picture for how it should be. I put mine in… -

Hi guysSo here is the update so far. The shut off valve has been replaced so the car now idles fine and doesn’t run on etc. The fuel still runs into the engine after you shut it off so no improvement there. I think that only leaves me with the float height being at fault ??. All work on the car has come to a halt for few weeks as I have no…[Read more]

Sweet ride!!!I think shed look even better with a lower profile wind screen or maybe even Brooklands. Also some wide white wall or thin red wall tires with red rims to really set her off. Keep the chrome moons over the red rims. Red grill slats would make the package complete. I like how you kept the fenders on the back they add a bit of class to…[Read more]

Front or rear engine TD? Just wondering if the ride height is different between those. Seems like with the front engine TDRs that would a larger difficulty. Just thinking out loud.

I had some front end tire rubbing all I did was put a 1 inch spacer on the fender bracket jacked up the fender and tightened . I also saw some spring spacers at Auto Zone not sure if they will work . I wish someone would try them then I would know .

As an addendum to the last story, Win also raced a Ex Works rally Mk1 Ford escort. It was parked up behind his filling station when he retired the car. I purchased the car from him as a worn out race car and put it back on the road, It cost me a total of 400 Gbp. about $600. Anyway it was way to rich for my blood to run it. A full works pre…[Read more]

I was 19 and headed to work early one morning back in the early 70s driving to work in my home built Mini. It, the car, started out as a stock 1071cc Cooper but at that time was running with a 1340cc motor. So no traffic and small English country roads in the west country of Dorset. I was happy, having fun throwing the little thing around wh…[Read more]
