Greg,
Sorry to hear you have had such trouble buffing out your gelcoat. I’ve never seen a gelcoat finish so bad that it could not be buffed out. And we have some success stories posted here in the forum (with pics).Perhaps in a different thread, want to summarize what you have tried? -

Greg (and Jeff)…
Pretty sure that is a Classic Roadsters Ltd. Duchess. Two things jump out to make me say that. The side curtains. The radiator (gas) cap winged lady. That is definitely Classic Roadsters Ltd.’s piece. -

Jeff,
Dick is partially right. But there is a better way to do it.Here is the right way to deal with a Classic Roadsters Ltd. Duchess roof (and probably others):1. Loosen the straps inside the car (they connect to the two roof support bars and pull them together to put tension on the roof).2. Partially unsnap the roof from the body… -

Got to unsnap the back of the top first to take the pressure off the front

Many models of the TDr do have a piece of flat metal that is sewn into the leading edge of the canvas. This piece along with the canvas surrounding is do “wedge” into the forward facing channel along the windscreen frame. It simply pulls out – forward.Welcome. -

Ok, how do I seperate the top from the top edge of the windscreen to be able to fold down the top? Looks like some sort of wedge/bar.

Just wondering is the car a London Roadster . If it is I have the exact same one. As far as the jellcoat none of the waxes or rubbing compounds will work . I’ve tried them all and my car is not that bad . There is a product called shine on that looks interesting. Go to yahoo and search shine on . There is a video. I wish some one would try…[Read more]

Awesome!Congratulations!Meguiars has a line of polishes and waxes for gel coat. I’m sure West Marine will have it.The good news is that gel coat finish is much thicker than a paint job. And it should buff out fine!

I beat you?
Thanks for that story. I remember taking a pilot bushing out of my Nova flywheel back in the day, but can’t remember how it got done. Do remember that one was in the wheel itself (bolted with 6 or 8 bolts to the crankshaft) and aligning the Muncie M-20 to it through the bell housing whilst lying under the car and trying to hoist it in… -

OK, fenders and running boards are off. I need to complete some minor body work and then we’ll get the roller out and see what happens. This weekend is the Duryea Hillclimb in Reading. Last Saturday I spoke with the man who will be installing my cage. He has come up with some modifications that will result in maintaining long term fit as this cage…[Read more]

Just enough to coat the surface and make it black… Try to get consistent coverage without paint buildup. Once careful coat…
Extra paint layers work against you. You’re looking to increase the thermal transfer by having a black surface, without adding insulative layers. -

KentT, can you define a light coat? Is that just a dusting of the high temp flat black so that you can still see the metal thru the paint or is it a coating with just enough paint to cover the metal surface? Thanks.Sam

Schu,
I don’t have my engine installed yet and the transaxle is easily accessible. I’ll check out mine when I get home from work, see what gives and let you know. I’ll attach a few photos as well. -

I have came to the same conclusion that edsnova has, that my temp guage is lying to me! It got all the proper thermostat parts including a working thermostat and installed them today. Car is running beautiful! All the cold engine stumbling is gone, engine warms up quicker fuel mileage even seems better! Guage still at 220+ after a 20 minute ru…[Read more]
