The VW column is from a 69 or so and the ignition switch and columm lock are available.
If it were me I’d put a universal key switch or maybe a true TD key switch and maybe a pushbutton (or pull!) ignition switch in that original MG center dash plate.

No clue what to do there. I was also not a fan of the old radio, so I took it out. I bought the MG blank plate on eBay, but it is too small to cover the hole as the upper and lower margins of the hole are too wide.
I am thinking about creating a glove box for the space, but I am not sure how I would approach it. I am not the best with wood…[Read more]

Hello Trevor from Bundaberg Australia.
I have a 1989 British Racing Green TD2000 just being used for leisure ,so far it’s a great little car. Good to be part of the club. -

Looks good Stefan
Are you planning on installing a new car radio, something that looks retro?
I’ve just removed my radio, was not working and looked too modern. I covered the gap with an MG blanking plate which I brought on Ebay.
Cheers Blake

Thanks for the link. I may end up buying 12 of these pointers so they all look the same.
There are a couple of other things on the website which bits may get, depending on the international shipping rate (to New Zealand)

I’m glad you found the solution. I wasn’t aware there even was such a device.

Originally, my switch was located in the dash, but I have opted to put in a dash plate which got rid of the ignition switch hole.
I have spot for it in the steering column, but can’t find or figure out what should go inside the column. I know there ought to be some V-Dub fans out there who could instantly point me in the right direction.

Not sure if this helps at all. There are some options here, but they don’t look exactly the same to my eyes. As for measurements, they usually reply pretty quickly via email.

To answer the question here:
The variable resistor lets you know the range of resistance between the two.
WHAT TO BUY: if this a problem for anyone, there is a device called the “Dolphin” and another called “MeterMatch,” both of which can be bought on eBay for 30 and 60 dollars respectively. They both operate as a mediator between the gauge and…[Read more]
