Sounds like the clutch cable may need to be adjusted. Where does the clutch grab in first gear?
Or after the trans is warmed up from a nice drive, drain and refill it with a quality synthetic gear lube like Royal Purple. If it sat for years, it may have a synchro or slider hanging up.
