I have been invited to join the First Capital Chapter of the Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA). (This is not the same outfit that hosted the meet that I just attended.)
I am quite sure that I would be the first kit car to be a member of our New Bern (First Colonial) Chapter. Your car must be 25 yrs old to participate in the 11 May Downtown New Bern Antique Automobile Show. But you don’t need a car to be a member?? I’m still trying to find out the rules.Any comments? Are any of you, or have you been, members. Comments pro or con. Thanks.April 1, 2013 at 3:31 am #255295Well, if they invited you, they must feel you meet the requirements. Sounds like an honor.

Seriously though, if they’ve met you it’s no mystery why they want you in their club.
April 1, 2013 at 8:44 am #255297Here is the email that I sent to the show committee this morning about the 5/11/2013 Downtown New Bern Show.
I met Fred Wagner at the New Bern Mall show on 3/30/2013 and he invited me to bring my 1952 MGTD kit car to your show.
Were I to attend, would I be eligible for awards/trophies? What class would my
MGTD fall under?
I am confused by AACA classes:
"35c. This competition class is for factory assembled, manufactured vehicles
that replicate the look and style of a previous make or model. Every specific
vehicle (including examples of others already accepted) must be accepted by the
VP of Class Judging with approval by the Class Judging Committee before the
vehicle may be registered for an AACA National meet. The owner must apply in
writing to the VP of Class Judging (or his designee) for acceptance. The
application process may require several weeks. The AACA does not accept
"kit-car" vehicles."
The only other class which I found that I thought may apply was #39 for Display
only, Non-judged vehicles.
My MGTD was built by Daytona Automotive Fiberglass Inc in 1974 upon a 1969
Volkswagen chassis and is currently registered in NC as a "Specially
Constructed" "1952 MG Replica".
It may be easier for you to respond by telephone. I am Roy Hendrix, 102 Baywood
Ct, New Bern, NC 28562 and my phone is 252 671 0067. Early morning phone calls
are invited as I am almost always at the top of my game before 0800 am and it's
downhill from there.
Thank you,
