I just purchased a MGTD and the plaque on the firewall says Design, Manufacturing and Distribution by Design Classics, Inc. Model No. TD49L83 Litchfield Minnesota Serial No. 55355. Does anyone know the details and history of this company. The search doesn’t give any history or details. Any comments, details or info is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
css4000 2015-11-05 19:43:01 November 5, 2015 at 3:18 pm #266169I’ve been involved with these cars since 1981 and I don’t recall ever seeing “Design Classics Inc.” in any publication as a kit manufacturer.
My guess is they were an assembler and not a manufacturer.Google reported a hit in the old TDreplica.com guest book with an entry that included “Design Classics Litchfield MN 55355 Mod#TD49l81 Ser#10086″. So apparently others have asked a similar question. The only other reference I can find is on an EPD web site but it sheds no light on what the business was.Add a couple pictures of your car and I bet we can help figure it out!PMOSSBERG2015-11-05 15:26:11

November 5, 2015 at 6:25 pm #266170Litchfield, MN? Damn near rolled my Mustang there. Hwy 12 runs alongside the railroad then all of a sudden the highway does a couple of 90’s to run along the other side of the tracks. Wow. That’ll wake you up.
Unrelated, I know. But, that location brought that incident to mind. Carry on.
