Richard,
Just a heads up – I didn’t see your name signed up for any cruises/dinners
etc. on the speedster site – did you RSVP w/ Bruce over there? Still coming?
How about you Montie?
April 22, 2011 at 4:15 pm #242897Unfortunately, due to family medical situation I won’t be able to go to Carlisle this year, Bummer! Hope to see you there next year. Denny
April 22, 2011 at 10:01 pm #242898Bummer Dennis – sorry about that – was looking forward to meeting you.
I hope everything works out.
Dale
April 28, 2011 at 9:18 pm #242899Bump.
Also, sorry for your trouble, Denny. For sure next year, OK?
Guessing Montie’s not making it in from Ohio? (Ohio was it?) Or are you in with the webbed seat trick?
That still leaves the usual suspects–Schu, who as usual has his stuff together, apparently; Mossberg–Paul, have you regained access to your shed, car and 1776 long block? Need any help with that?; and Wobby, who last I heard from was also rebuilding his motor.
Then there’s me. Got Bridget’s front suspension buttoned up this a.m. and test drove her to the gas station. Looking right now like she’ll be good to go; still need to pick up a set of new tires and get some wiring squared away, but the major components seem to be in working order.
This could still be a 25 percent TD improvement over 2010. Or even better.
Anyone in for a last minute joy ride like back in the day? There’s camping on site, folks. It’s sort of like a Grateful Dead show, circa ’77. With band kids serving up really huge egg sandwiches instead of over-priced, dubious LSD with pictures of Snoopy on it.
April 28, 2011 at 10:06 pm #242900Hi gang.
I will be at Carlisle.
But I don’t have access to my garage and car and engine yet. So it’s looking doubtful that I will have my Duchess ready for Carlisle.

April 29, 2011 at 5:00 pm #242901Bummer Paul – I was hoping you could bring your car – it looks like 2 or 3
cars max again – come on guys – anyone else?
Looking forward to seeing you anyway Paul – You can right seat w/ one of
us.
April 29, 2011 at 5:30 pm #242902Paul, my man! If you’d care to slum, you can ride w/ me when Karen is napping, as I’m betting she’ll do at some point.
But how ’bout this idea? Get yer tow bar and hitch the MG to the Volvo or whatever, throw the new mill in the trunk (of the tow vehicle), drag it in and put us monkeys to work on the Carlisle grounds.
What’s to lose?
No matter how bad we screw it up, I’m betting we could wake up Dr. Clock at 3 a.m. Sunday, shoot him up with sodium pentathol and throw him under your car with a blindfold tied ’round his head, and he’ll still have that sucker running smooth by egg sammich time.
April 29, 2011 at 10:01 pm #242903Um, thanks Ed…
But you guys apparently don’t understand what I mean by “I don’t have access to my garage and car and engine yet.”
Under the consent order governing our separation, I am not allowed at the house for anything other than what is necessary to maintain the house. And of course to pick up my daughter.
Guess where my TD and my engine are?
And they are being held hostage there. Access to the cars is not really prohibited. But it is not expressly permitted in the CO, so she is playing real hard-ball.
Maybe a couple of you could break in and steal the car and engine? I’ll give you the garage door opener code!

April 30, 2011 at 4:37 pm #242904running fine, just vbrake issues cant bleed those suckers Im wondering if my rep[lacement master cylinder bis bad. I can get nthem to work for two or three days and then they go soft again. I bet I’ve gone thru 5 gallons of fluid bleeding them. But that just has to do with stopping. pump twice and she stops fine. are we going to speedster dinner. If so count me in. Paul wanna ride. Sorry about the problem. Remember its better to fix an old car you know than buy a new one with the same problems.
IF ANYONE HAS A BETTER IDEA THAN VACUM PUMPS AND GARDEN SPRAYER MY BRAKESARE REALLY BUGGING ME. i WAS GOING TO DO SOME RUBBING AND WAXING BUT….

April 30, 2011 at 8:40 pm #242905Rich. Was just talking about you today with Greg (“Wolfgang” on the Speedster forum). He’s thinking of towing his mess to the show & having us keep working there on it. Said I was game but didn’t know if we might be under your car–or Paul’s (apparently not). Anyway, glad you’re up and running. Assume you checked all your fittings and couplings for leaks. If so, and found none, I think you might have a bad master cylinder.
Especially if the issues commenced with its installation.
I’d pull it and have a look anyway.

May 1, 2011 at 8:55 am #242906Richard,
I am w/ Ed – if you used a pressure system and lots of fluid you most likely
have a bad MC out of the box ( made in China ). Pull it and send it back for
another.

May 3, 2011 at 5:41 pm #242907Richard,
You need to RSVP ASAP w/ Bruce over at the speedster club if you want to
go on the cruises/dinners so we will have enough room for everyone.
I think his info is above or you can get on the speedster site and email him.
May 4, 2011 at 11:40 am #242908I emailed Bruce.
Brakes fixed
Greoge is fueled (oh my god)
Ally is running fine.
Should I bring a Jack and Stands.
I really hope I have Time to buff and polish before I arrive, If not we will do it next year. Short of helping someone else I’m tired of Ally’s needs.
Paul give me code, address and schedule. It won’t be my first redeo.
May 15, 2011 at 9:33 am #242909Paul, You know of course that was a joke I am leaving Wednesday or Thursday headed to albany, binghamton, Harrisburg. I could always go Hartford Scranton Harrisburg. If anyone is crusing down and wantsa to ride tandem or needs a ride. Let me know. Right now taking George (the motor home) and pulling Ally. Could pull a tandem trailer or even grab a tractor with a hauler it we need to transport a few cars. I was wondering I can bring an EZ Ups or two, Ill have a brown bottles and chips, George won’t travel without them. But it appears as if It’ll be a wet weekend. So if anyone thinks of stuff we need let me know. Or if one direction works for someone.
Ed are you bringing that cocktail of old.
Is anyone else doing the speedster thing just got my agenda. Question is Photo Session code for quick cocktail.
Can’t wait to see you all.
May 15, 2011 at 10:26 am #242910Looking forward to it Richard.
Looks like rain, but sometimes it just clouds up and we never get rain.
Hopefully the weather will push off and we can get some sun.
May 15, 2011 at 10:31 am #242911Darn it Wobby! I was getting my hopes up!
I’m doing the Speedster dinners on Friday and Saturday. I believe Schu is too. Not sure about Ed and his lady. I can get you back and forth to dinner and the hotel if you want to go. But you need to let Bruce know if you are coming to dinner!
Photo Session is “code” for gathering cars and people together to take a picture. Really!
Even without my TD, I’m looking forward to this weekend. In a year real ups and downs, Carlisle will be a good “up” weekend, despite the predicted rain.

May 15, 2011 at 11:07 am #242912Richard,
We will be there Thursday unless something changes – I can pick you up
from the field or you can drive Ally over to the hotel and go on the cruise
from the parking lot. You have my phone # – give me a call when you hit the
showfield on Thursday.
Dale
May 15, 2011 at 11:46 am #242913If we end up at too many Photo sessions you are welcome to pilot Ally. For that matter consider Ally yours at any time. Registered for complete weekend with speedsters. Bruce and I have been emailing back and forth. Also a year of ups and downs and hope to start working on a drinking problem, to be identified by an expensive pscho-therapist in the distant future.
May 15, 2011 at 8:08 pm #242914Hey, Rich: Karen and I are signed up for dinners, Friday and Saturday. We’re looking to get to the grounds early afternoon Friday, driving Bridget, assuming I didn’t screw her up to bad over the winter. If someone has a Tach & Dwell meter I might could use it to set Bridget’s points a little finer than I did with just the feeler gauge last week. If not, we’ll wing it.
Very much looking forward to seeing you gents.
Oh, yeah, planning on bringing the Pimms Cups for a little high class, British style summer imbibing. Still need to pick up the Pimms though–my old source is dried up.
Shouldn’t be a problem though.
Bridget, this a.m. I haven’t worked on her all day & don’t plan to–save maybe a basic bath if we get a break in the weather before Friday.

May 15, 2011 at 8:55 pm #242915Wish I could help Ed. All my tools are trapped with my cars!

May 15, 2011 at 9:28 pm #242916I believe I have the dwell meter your looking for. An old car buff had one at a recent yard sale and I picked it up. Have no idea how to use said instrament but I keep hearing people talk of them so I figured I should have it. I’ll have someone from the shop explain it to me. That’ll certainly get them all laughing. Our race shop this time of year is hopping. But everyone there hates me so I’m sure someone will drop whatever it is they do there and explain this thing to me. Anyother tools we need let me know. Are we turning wrenchs for greg. do we need jack stands or a jack. Lights, generator, Air compressor, let me know. Might even have a portable bench or table.
May 16, 2011 at 11:07 am #242917I’m thinking, re jack stands for Greg, maybe some 1 x 1 foot squares of 3/4-inch plywood to go under the stands. I don’t think we can work on the pavement.
May 16, 2011 at 3:07 pm #242918First off the dwell meter works it does rpms voltage and dwell cool stuff amazing what you can learn with a box of Dunkin Donuts in hand.
I’ll bring jack stands and plates
May 16, 2011 at 4:31 pm #242919Cool!
May 16, 2011 at 7:12 pm #242920Do to Carlisle being about a million miles from Kansas I would guess that I will never make it to the show. I sure hope you guys post some pictures. It sounds like a blast.
