Worry about Stag wheels, which came off a V8 car that weighs 2800 pounds? I doubt it.
April 17, 2013 at 2:37 pm #252607Just got back from a high speed run to test the Urethane sway bar bushings. Truth is, I really can’t say that it handles much different. (My old ones really look worse than they were. The rubber still had some strength and was not all gummy.) But. I stuck with a stock diameter sway bar. And I painted my sway bar red while I had it out to satisfy Ed’s requirement that at least I’ll look good losing.
I will say that they were not easy to change. Some oversized vise grips and some gargantuan channel locks make the job a bit easier. Still not easy without a lot of hand strength.I’m no longer concerned about my wire wheels, they have been fully vetted over the last few hundred miles since I installed them.April 17, 2013 at 5:37 pm #252608If I bring the teardrop is camping allowed?

April 17, 2013 at 5:37 pm #252609Roy,
I would not worry either – just go straightApril 17, 2013 at 7:52 pm #252610I autocrossed on my wires for several years. I never had a problem. I only took them off to accommodate much larger rubber.

"Drive Happy"April 17, 2013 at 8:06 pm #252612Yes the do have camping. Although I would try to set up away from the crazies. I set up to look down on the field. Ed ill bet we could set up a covered bridge cruise. If anyone would like I’ll look into it. Also it looks like there’s a 1/2 dozen or so up for dinner. If those that want a bar b que. Could email me so I can start an actual count. That’s be interesting I’m actually trying to plan something as a Newby. Also this is Friday late afternoon and then we’ll head down to the street show.
April 17, 2013 at 8:24 pm #252613OK, I’ve located and e-mailed the director of the local SCCA Region of our desire to run as a group on Saturday morning. If both parties agree this will be a blast.
Wobby, if you’re up for a B-B-Q, I’m in. Just let me know what I can do to help.

"Drive Happy"April 17, 2013 at 9:04 pm #252614Wobby, Sounds great to me. Julie and I are in. We’ll do whatever you need, contribute food, money towards food and/or labor. Julie is an excellent cook but results on an unfamiliar stove/fire are iffy.
April 17, 2013 at 10:19 pm #252615Court Wizard…as Wobby says, there is camping. When you go to carsatcarlisle.com to register for the show, you will see the camping options and prices

April 19, 2013 at 1:44 am #252617Ed,
I want to go BUT…
I’ve just put in a bid to do some work on the new Brad Pitt film “Fury” and they haven’t set a schedule (or hired me) yet.
So I don’t know what my schedule will be.
I’ve gotten a couple of thousand miles on her so far and I think she’s up to it. But time will tell.By the way I’ve installed some accessories for the LA freeways..;)

"Drive Happy"April 19, 2013 at 11:15 am #252619Really man’s the thing up, eh?
Those .50s? Or 20mm ack acks?
Either way, I would not consider braving LA–or NYC–roads without DU ammo. Too many armored SUVs out there with “diplomatic immunity!”
EDIT: Welcome NSA bots! As you can see, we are joking.

April 20, 2013 at 5:38 pm #252620I’ve finally figured out what SCCA class I will be running the Autocross in: SCCA ENCSPTDR>70. (Eastern North Carolina Single Port TD Replica, over 70 years old.)
So there you have it. I’ve thrown down the gauntlet. Any challengers??April 20, 2013 at 7:11 pm #252621Roy, that is easy….I’m over 70. Oh wait, maybe that wasn’t the challenge.
SamApril 21, 2013 at 10:18 am #252622I’me 71, maybe we need our own class, laugh
April 23, 2013 at 3:32 am #252623A reply from Carlisle Events…
Hi Bill,
My name is Ed Buczeskie and I am the Event Manager for the Import & Kit Nationals. The autocross at the show is run solely by the local chapter of the SCCA. I have copied my SCCA contact, Henry Brillinger, on this email. You can contact Henry directly to see if he can accommodate your request.
If there’s anything else I can help you with, please feel free to contact me.
Thanks Bill!!

"Drive Happy"April 23, 2013 at 12:19 pm #252625I really think this should work fine if we all sign up at the same time. They’ll run is all in series, no problem.
April 23, 2013 at 1:54 pm #252626Over the weekend I pumped up my tires a bit and tried some real hard turns at the end of our subdivision because I could not locate a practice lot. Did not have a lot of body lean so I am going to run what I have. I do have some concern about the quick zig zags around cones, but will just see how it goes. If I need a rear sway bar it will have to be next year – at least I will know were I need to improve my ride and my driving. It is all for fun anyway. Looking forward to it.
