March 31, 2023 at 8:38 pm #308463Booked at the hotel and will be there. I haven’t started my TDr all winter so wish me luck. It’s on the battery tender again so should start with a little nudge or two.
March 31, 2023 at 8:39 pm #308464Looks like we might have more TDr’s then speedsters this year
April 1, 2023 at 9:30 pm #308465Could happen! I plan to be there with Bridget.
April 8, 2023 at 8:29 am #308483OK so: I’m planning on handing out cruise directions via text or email so you can just hit the link on your phone and open the turn-by-turn navigation. This will require the (free) Google Maps app, which I suppose many of you already have and which I downloaded for the first time onto my iphone a couple weeks ago. Seems to work fine.
I just emailed the rough route to a few of you in hope of getting feedback and trouble-shooting. Does anyone have any questions or concerns about this?
May 8, 2023 at 8:39 pm #308499Greg Strain I need your phone so we can connect this coming weekend at Carlisle. Please send me a direct message with it asap.
FYI the HQ hotel for the group is Courtyard by Marriott Mechanicsburg. in Camp Hill. I’ll be based there From Wednesday evening through Sunday AM.
May 14, 2023 at 9:30 pm #308511OK so Carlisle was an adventure. Thanks so much to Gregg and and Sharon, Al and Rose Ann, Bill (Crash) and Audrey, Dale Schumacher and Bill Ascheman for making this one of the stronger TD showings. Six TDs, outnumbered Speedsters, show’d ’em up. Bill’s car was extra special this year, sitting in the race paddock all weekend and then, when he got in it to drive home, pissing gas all over the pad. He was able to fix the leak easily and truly earn the “busted knuckle” element of his busted bank balance award.
Here’s a few snapshots I got during the weekend. Thanks again for your comaraderie and patience.
May 15, 2023 at 12:36 pm #308517Tow Car Update…
For those of you who are not aware, my Subaru that I was towing my MG to Carlisle with decided it didn’t want to continue about 25 miles from the hotel. I nursed it in but had to get my tow car towed back home.
This morning I went to the Subaru dealer to empty it out. They had looked at it and said the transmission was OK but the engine had a dead miss in #3 cylinder. Plugs were done a little over a thousand miles ago. I gave them the OK to pull and check that plug and to swap coils around if necessary. If that doesn’t clear it up then they’ll have to get into the motor.
On the plus side, I was forced to drive the MG home. I kept it at 4,000 rpm @ 90 mph the whole trip down the PA Turnpike. Not a cop in site.

"Drive Happy"May 15, 2023 at 9:51 pm #308518Fingers crossed you don’t have to drop a 302 in it.
May 17, 2023 at 7:32 am #308523The electrode tip of the spark plug dropped off. Loose in the cylinder, it destroyed a valve and valve seat. It also damaged the piston.
The end result is its getting a new short block and cylinder head. Not exactly what I needed to hear.

"Drive Happy"May 18, 2023 at 5:02 pm #308524Damn!
Why would a spark plug fail like that?
Sorry for your trouble.
