I’ve been thinking about replacing my top and boot I went to talk with a guy about it and he suggested that the top and boot match the the color of the car(british green). At the time i didn’t like it.Now that i have been thinking about it maybe it wood look good. Do any of you have thoughts on this. Maybe sombody has see a car like this or a picture(british green car ,cream interior, british green top and boot
thanksOctober 20, 2012 at 8:56 am #252238I don’t believe it was ever done as an original TD, but
that’s the beauty of a home built car. You can do what you
like as you like.
Import a photo into “Paint” or “Photoshop” and change the
color and take a look.Bill Ascheman

"Drive Happy"October 20, 2012 at 8:59 am #252239Greg, I cannot remember seeing a green top . Many TD’s use a top that matches the interior, however, Paul Mossberg’s red car has a red top and a white interior and it looks great. With our cars ,I think it’s more a matter of personal preference than what’s right or wrong.I also like white cars with white tops. The lighter color tops are cooler than darker colors but if you usually ride with the top down that would not matter. It’s your car ,do it like YOU want too.
October 20, 2012 at 10:37 am #252240Greg,, you have to like the color but ,,I to have not seen a green toped TD . I have only ordered 1 car with a white top, car that was a 92 Mustang all the outhers were black [6] it is just easyer to keep clean. I just got my FIRST hard top car this year and a 4 door yet But I still have 2 convertables a Camaro and my TD ,,,,, Dan
October 20, 2012 at 11:06 am #252241I like ’em tan meself. But truly, anything goes! I saw a tartan convertible top on a Mustang a few years back & thought it was the coolest thing ever.
October 20, 2012 at 12:24 pm #252242Original appears to be tan only. http://www.mgcars.org.uk/mgtd/mgtd_finishes.htm
But that’s the beauty of a reproduction. You can do what pleases YOU.I have seen black topped green TDs, like this one:
One very subjective comment….getting an exact match between the green
body gel-coat/paint and the green vinyl roof may be tough. If you shoot for an exact match and miss, I think it’s just going to look “off”. I prefer some contrast…And that is why my Duchess is red with a burgundy roof. It may not show that clearly in the pictures here. But the roof is not an exact match to the car. But thanks for the compliment Larry!
