    @warsatt

    I decided to install dual carbs on my Dutches. I got the Empi kit with 34-EPC carbs. As you all figured installing the carbs would require some manicuring of the fiberglass on both sides of the engine. That was accomplished using a reciprocating saw and a Dremel tool. The biggest problem has been getting the dual carb linkage to fit with out interference with the “bonnet”.  Following the directions that came with the kit would not work because the levers to the throttle plate clashed with the “trunk lid”.

    After much trial and error, which included removing the beaded insulation board from the inside of the bonnet (why is that stuff there?)  and modifying the bracket on the right side I have got it to the place where it clears and comes close to fully opening the throttle plates. A simpler solution would have been to install a scat center pull linkage, but I wanted to see if the linkage that came with the kit would work.

    Has anyone else successfully installed dual carbs on a VW Dutchess?

    Probably installed by a previous owner —  the purpose is to separate the hot air side of the engine from the cool side.

    It helps to keep the engine run cooler.

    I believe @pmossberg had dual ICTs on his Dutchess.

    I did indeed have dual carbs on my Classic Roadsters Ltd. Duchess. But memory fails me as to what they are; and I no longer own the car.

    Single barrel, fitment under the Duchess engine cover was no problem.
