We are going to try again. This is the same course as the Pagoda Hillclimb where I crashed in June with an additional mile of higher speed road along Skyline Drive. This is where I damaged the 4 cylinder engine last year. Hopefully, I can muster the courage to open it up along there.

What did Wobby say, “Ain’t nothing good ever come from racin’!”
Keep the greasy side down and the rubber on the road! I look forward to a positive report!

August 17, 2018 at 7:32 pm #305415Once again pouring rain at registration and tech inspection. Hopefully the track will dry sometime tomorrow.

"Drive Happy"August 18, 2018 at 7:06 pm #305422The track did improve. First run was wet, but by the time I got my second run, the track was mostly dry and I ran 4 seconds faster than my best time with the old motor. If we get a dry track we should do even better, unfortunately, there’s more rain in the forecast.

Rain, rain, rain. First run Saturday was in the wet and, due to what had happened at Pagoda, I crawled up the hill.
The rain finally stopped and David finished the Sharpie on his new sunroof delete panel.
The track began to dry and get faster.
My second run went well. I was 4 seconds faster than my all time best time with the old motor.
I was looking forward to further runs in t he dry but due to some timing issues we ran out of time. There is always Sunday. Sunday morning was dark and cloudy and just when I reached the paddock the rain came. I sat in the truck until it slowed. By this time I had made up my mind to not risk racing in the wet so I swapped tires and hitched her up and began to drag her home. I still got a third place plaque.

"Drive Happy"August 19, 2018 at 9:31 pm #305448Four seconds sounds like a huge improvement to me. Congrats! Especially since you’ve just begun to test it.
I guess the balance is ok else you wouldn’t have made such gains?
How much do you realistically think your time improvement will be after you get the car tuned in and you learn how to drive your new machine?
August 19, 2018 at 10:30 pm #305449A good showing then, overall.
