After carefully studying the posts about ebrake relocation I decided to give it a try.
The info about the locating, reforming, and cutting the tubes was right on, even down to the part about untangling the driver’s side from the clutch tube.
Of course, I didn’t follow the instructions exactly.
I did not want to move the heater control levers with the brake because I felt that they would poke at my ample bottom. Also, I had already shortened the brake lever about 2 inches and had it rewelded in my attempt to make it work without resorting to moving it. This helped allow for more clearance with the shift lever.
I fabricated a copy of the brake portion of the VW bracket, cut a new hole, cut the tubes and reformed them to feed the cable to the lever in the new position.

Yes I did pull the cable back before cutting.
I did not realize that the tab at the front of the stock VW hole was important so I ended up adding a plate to engage the notch at the bottom of the ratchet cam. Although it is not in these pictures I also added a small cotter pin to limit the travel of the pawl to prevent the dreaded “pop off” when the cables get loose.

Glad that the boot covers all that nastiness.
So far so good.
