    @royal

    Some of you have considered putting a EJ22 Subaru into our TDs.   I really attach this link for Ed because he is one who seems the most interested (other than myself).

    Although not a TD, this is an exceptionally nice job and shows what could be done.  Watch the autocross video at the end.

    There are a bunch of Speedster replicas running around with subie engines too.

    Spend some time at Carlisle talking with John Hallstrand.

    If you own a TDr and are not in the Registry, please go to https://tdreplica.com/forums/topic/mg-td-replica-registry/ and register (you need to copy and paste the link)

    Paul, If John is the fella from Canada, I talked to him last year.  He’s sold on the Subie.

    John’s from down south. They call him “Hoss” ‘cuase of his hat. He has an SAS Subie which is mid-engined and cost him something like $30k and for which he waited years–SAS is infamous for keeping customers waiting for years.

    Hoss is an excellent person but I have no interest in that sort of action, and I doubt anyone here does either.

    The Canadian dude is David Stroud. He has an early 80s IM and after breaking two Type1 engines he Subefied it himself last winter, using ordinary hand tools and items he found around the house & shed. Says he spent about $2800 all-in; 100 percent Red/Green engineering except that when he was done he immediately drove the bastard 12,000 miles.

    I wanna be David Stroud. But I never will be.

    Yep.  I remember, it was David that I talked to at some length in the parking lot.  Canada to Key West and back with detours here and there.
