Is it this one? The builder visited our forum once or twice, I believe. He did a nice job & made just what i had originally planned to make with Bridget. I changed my mind when I calculated the range I’d get. He got a little less than I expected.

I’m hoping that by the time the Suby needs replacing there will be proper batteries available for ordinary hackers like us.

That’s not it unless he changed the color to blue. I wonder what it sounds like. Does it backfire, The one on ebay appears a little more crude

I wonder why both of them only have a range of 25 to 30 miles.

25-30 miles is rather typical of the range on a light weight, lead acid battery powered 72 volt system. But, not all batteries are created equal.  I can guarantee you that if he had 12-6 volt golf cart batteries it would go further.  But, they weigh a lot more and are physically larger.

My brother “electrocuted” a Yugo this summer.  With a 72 volt system he had 25-30 miles range @ 40-45mph and was unhappy with it.    So, he up sized to a 96 volt motor, controller and battery system and now gets 40-45 miles at 50-55mph.

    Very cool, man!

There are apparently a few electric TDs out there. This one is a BCW, just like mine. Sold a couple years ago; he was asking over $9k
A white one. Big engine in it. Stats on it are here (I can tell it’s the same car because the interior, and I recognize the Netgain 9-inch motor from the other photo). That motor should push it well over 70 mph, and those LiFe batteries will give it the serious range. That’s the thing I wanted to build–but the cost was far out of my budget.
There’s also this--not quite a TD kit but the same basic idea.
