Having recently gotten my Lafer’s interior redone, I’d like to make sure the carpeting keeps its looks as long as possible. Question: Since these cars use the stock VW Type I floorpans, am I right in assuming that mats in a stock VW pattern will fit? Should I be looking at MG mats instead? Or is the answer (C) None of the above?
Any suggestions, pro or con?

Perfect detail for the true TD fan. Looks absolutely authentic and even has the MG crest. Probably not real practical though.

I have never compared the footwell to an original TD.

Neat comparison. I’m impressed by the lengths you have gone to to achieve that original TD look!

August 23, 2011 at 8:18 pm #245940Hmmm. Well, since Lafers aren’t anywhere near to being accurate replicas of TDs — or anything else, for that matter — I’m not too concerned about authenticity. I guess I’ll fall back on what’s worked for me in the past: trial and error. I just don’t want something that would slide up under the pedals and cause a problem.
