As i’m watching weather for next week i hope everyone on the east coast will be safe.To me this looks like a monster(frankenstorm) of a storm that will have an effect on every one from Florida to Maine going west to Ohio. I Don’t want to turn on my tv and see someone standing on their car floating down main st.Any interesting stories about the storm might be fun.
October 26, 2012 at 5:28 pm #252313I think those folks along the coast from Florida to North Carolina will be okay. But when it hangs a left at Virginia and heads towards Ohio, those folks should keep an eye out.

October 27, 2012 at 12:19 pm #252319John – I’m not likin’ those ramps leaning on your MG. They look like they could go flying. Just my two cents.
Even here in Bath PA (near Allentown) we’re looking at 60 mph winds and a ton of rain.
Stay safe all.

October 28, 2012 at 11:08 am #252322I guess we're lucky, but so far, Sandy has not been much here in New Bern.
A windshield wipers on medium strength rain for the last 24 hours with only about 1-1/2" accumulation.
Not really much wind here - good umbrella weather.
Hope you all make out as well.
(Of course it's not over, the fat lady hasn't sung yet.)October 28, 2012 at 1:19 pm #252323Sandy has departed our Cape Fear area – ..luckily we are a south facing beach on Oak Island so we didnt get the pounding the outerbanks did, just alot of wind and rain f r the past 24.
Our feet are dry on the ground and everyting is where it should be!jebarry2012-10-28 15:12:22

October 28, 2012 at 10:46 pm #252325Been through a number of hurricanes and Sandy looks like she’s a bad gal. You folks in the DC, NJ, NY, and CT areas batten down the hatches. Linda and I will have you all in our prayers.

Except for the lack of Atlantic coastline, we’re gonna have the same wind and rain our NJ/NY CT friends will have.
I’m ready tho. I bought extra supplies Sunday:PMOSSBERG2012-10-29 00:31:15

October 29, 2012 at 10:16 am #252327NW winds here, 35 mph gusts; rain.
The wind direction will tend to push water out of the Chesapeake Bay. Tomorrow it will wheel around to the SE and push it back up, but by then we’re looking at 25 mph. So for us, I’m thinking not so bad.
Power will probably go out though. It usually does here with any kind of wind.
October 29, 2012 at 10:25 am #252328Got everything secure here. Food and gas for the generator. Planning on about 3 day’s without power. Can go longer if I must. Won’t have heat , but it’s only going to be in the 40’s . Chainsaw is ready if I have to cut my way out of here.
October 29, 2012 at 10:55 am #252329Just protect your cars, screw the house. It’s easier to repair the house than a crushed TD.
If you’re worried about flooding, get it up on blocks.
There’s going to be a LOT of rain for a few days up there, and 30-40mph winds. The people up North aren’t as well prepared or mentally ready for this kind of thing, we down here just pass it off (after getting ready) as just another storm. Hopefully everybody makes it through OK and it’s not as bad as projected.
The worst thing about this, aside from the billions of dollars it may cost, is that it could screw up the election with early voting being canceled or no power and voting booths closed.October 29, 2012 at 12:41 pm #25233035 mph sustained winds here in Bath PA right now.
50-60 mph sustained winds expected over night.
No flood threat where I live. But portions of town closer to rivers and streams will likely be under water.
Expecting to lose power by tonight. And my entire house is electric. Including water! I have my own well. No power…no pump. But three bathtubs are full of water!

October 29, 2012 at 12:53 pm #252331I knew when i started this i would get alot of good posts from you guys about what you were doing to as a result of the storm,as for me i should have few problems living on top of a hill with no near by streems my car is in my garage.I could loose my power, but i have backup heat as the builder of this house i prepared for things like this.
October 29, 2012 at 1:11 pm #252332Sad there’s no FP in my house. I got gas in here but the furnace needs juice to go. Our worry is blizzards.
Boiled a bunch of eggs, cooked some bacon, baked bread.
Big concern for me right now is conjuring up some copy for next week’s paper in the two day’s I’ll be working this week. Don’t want to have to work Friday….

October 29, 2012 at 3:29 pm #252335Wow.
I’d have expected that on the Pacific Coast.
Quite a surprise on the Atlantic!Paul Mossberg
