My friend was diagnosed with ca. and died very soon after. His widow needs to sell VW TDR. Engine is strong, tranny and all mechanicals appear sold. Body is a nicely buffed out red. Needs complete interior. Has chrome grill, headlamp buckets mounted on support from rad to fender. Molded dash is very TD looking and winshield is the aluminum trimmed type, not the folding model. Car has new, wireing harness from our main supplier and is not completed, but ignition is and car was on road before he became ill. I need advice on what to ask for this car. He invested alot in its redo. I will be going to his house to find manufacturer tag. Car has clear, new, New York title, as a 1970 VW. We are upstate in NY, 20 minutes south of New Paltz College, in the Town of Montgomery. Any help appreciated. Thank you, Dennis P. First, I ‘m very sorry for your loss.

Well…I hate to give pricing estimates (beauty and price are in the eye of the buyer, to coin a phrase), here goes.

I’ve recently been seeing more and more ads in the $8k to $10k range. But those are asking prices, not selling prices.

While I do hope the sellers get what they want (as that helps us all, eh?), I think nicely finished nicely turned out VW based TDr’s will sell for around $5k, with front engine cars likely worth a bit more.

Take off a grand because your friend’s car has no interior. Maybe even more. Ask $4k, be happy to settle for $3?

As with the EPA, your mileage may vary. I’m curious to hear other opinions.

If you own a TDr and are not in the Registry, please go to https://tdreplica.com/forums/topic/mg-td-replica-registry/ and register (you need to copy and paste the link)
