December 12, 2012 at 3:57 pm #234420This is ONLY a constructive observation:I know that I am a very new member to the site, and have already made a few “ediquette blunders” while posting… You’ll have that I’ll endever to try much harder…When I started looking in earnest for a MiGi Kit last year, I stumbled across this site, but never looked any further because the “Home Page” had a “redirect” link for the left hand side topics that were not there, and the Home Page said it was last updated in Sept 2008. I thought it was a dead website… (there are tons of them out there)Seeing a site update that is 4 years “out-of-date” can drive off many prospective, “legitimate” users to the forum, and quite alot of knowledge and insight can be lost (or never received, depending on your perspective)I know the upkeep of a website can be daunting at best. But there might be a way to keep the update “ticker” active with each log-in to the forum. I don’t know if the site retains a webmaster, or there is someone in-house, but this might be an easy fix…Those looking for a topic about MG kit cars thru a search engine might find an oudated home page and just “move on” like I did last year. And that would have helped me (or others) get in-touch much sooner.Again… I am long winded… I know… And honestly this is meant to be purely constructive, I know the work required to maintain these services and am very grateful to those who spend the many hours at the helm!Regards, DougDecember 12, 2012 at 9:54 pm #253416
Point well taken Doug.
The founder of the site is still out there. And his brother works for the hosting company.
But neither is active on the site. And they are the only ones that can modify the core of the site.
I have admin privileges for things like membership management, isp blocking, user id blocking. But all I can do is write to Frank and his brother and hope they are around to make changes.
I agree re the “last update” date on the home page. I’ll see if I can get that changed!
