Hey Gang
For the longest, those of us on the west coast have only read about the fun you all are having at the meets on the east coast. Im thinking once again of a west coast meet of some sort maybe in May or june before the summer heat arrives.
There are lots of places to meet like Bobs Big Boy, In and Out Burger,Rubies, etc. We could even meet up at a park or some of our beaches. We could take a Saturday morning cruise through some of our canyons or along the coast.
Let me know if this sounds good and if so, we can get the ball rolling. Hey, maybe we can have trophies for best looking, farthest traveled to get to the meet, least restored but running, etc. And were going to need a cool name for our annual meet.
So whose with me? 😛March 24, 2016 at 1:55 am #267553The problem for me is the vast distance in the west.  SoCal is the closest metro area to us, but Vegas is still 300 miles away.  Doug’s Garage and I are the only TDr’s that I know of in this area.  I’m not about to drive Murphy 300 miles one-way to the event — assuming Murphy is even finished by then.  Right now the estimated completion time is 7 years for the upholsterer and 10-to-life for the body shop to repaint the hood.  However, I might encourage the event by at least showing up in my regular car.March 24, 2016 at 3:35 pm #267554Sounds like fun, but I will still be assembling my car this summer, maybe next
March 24, 2016 at 4:58 pm #267555OK, lets not let the east coast members think were weak! Ive read about the epic legnths theyve gone through to make their events happen. From hauling their cars with a trailer to having a break down support system along the way. I think the other benifit of a meet would be to put some fire under our butts to finish our projects so we can drive our dreams rather than just looking at them and thinking that it will be great when… Like I say “Let the wind blow through your hair before it falls out!”
Dont get me wrong, Eliza Jane still needs work before shes road ready but Id work faster if I knew there was a rewarding event with cool people like you all in the near future.
So again I say “Who is with me?” (I need a pirate emogi here)March 24, 2016 at 10:53 pm #267556Ummm….. Â In-N-Out……

March 25, 2016 at 11:31 am #267560It sounds like I hit nerve with In and Out Burgers! Out here its not only a religion but its my second mistress, right under Eliza Jane, and my hot wife doesnt even mind! I can be found at the In and Out in on Beach Blvd at least once a week! For those of you on the east coast, the burgers are so good that if you have a Double Double with fries and a thick shake you wont go back home!
OK, since it sounds like we found a venue, we just need to nail down a location and a date. As Gerard Butler said in Law Abiding Citizen…”This is going to be Bibical!”
I get that it may be just a few of us to start off but I can see a time when we really grow into something big and make the founders of our club really proud! Just think of the attention it will bring to the TD Replica culture and it may spawn new owners and members.
As your honorary Villiage Idiot, Im optamisticaly excited for what we can acomplish together! ( insert mayhem Templar Knight emoge here).March 25, 2016 at 2:26 pm #267561Unfortunately, southern Cal is a VERY long drive from the west coast of Canada and those of us that still have to work cannot justify the time required. I have driven it only twice, it is quicker and much more comfortable on a commercial aircraft.
We will be at a conference in Newport in mid April but doubt I will have time to meet anyone on that trip.
I think it is a great idea to try and get together.
PhilMarch 25, 2016 at 4:15 pm #267562Sounds like fun, I’m about 80 mile away from the beach, and Rosebud has made that kind of trips many times before. Â What beach are you planning on?

March 25, 2016 at 5:39 pm #267563AnonymousInactiveSounds like fun. Mid California coast would really be nice. Driving distance would be split between the north and south. Pismo Beach is about half way between North and South. Good beach , Good food and cars can be driven on beach.
March 28, 2016 at 11:56 pm #267564I love Pismo and Shell beach! Sounds like a great mid point for us. The roads are scenic but easy climbs for our kits. There are a few reasonable inns there for those who want to make a weekend out of it. Might I suggest Hearst castle for the sunday after our meet, its well worth it!
Im not sure if they have an In and Out Burger but if not well find another eatery to host us. Ill do some research and see whats there.
We stll need a cool name for our first anual meet:
Burgers and buggies…
Mayhem and Machines…
TD Replicas First Anual West Coast Topless Beach Bash!!! Yay Topless!
Whats your ideas? (Insert topless emoge here!)March 29, 2016 at 1:07 am #267565Count me and the Green Goose in. I’ve been jealous reading about the adventures at Carlisle.
Bout’ time we got an event for us wrong-coasters.
The Scottish event at the Queen Mary has an English car ‘show’. I’ve been a couple of times. The Goose always causes trouble. No trees were injured in the making of this message, but some electrons were inconvenienced.
March 29, 2016 at 7:25 pm #267566Im thinking late May to give those of us who need to finish our projects both in the house and under the hood time to compleate them. How will that work for you all?
(Insert the “Im so excited I could pee!” emoge here)
Whose in charge of creating emoges anyway?March 29, 2016 at 7:28 pm #267567Sounds good, Rosebud is fired up and ready to roll!

March 30, 2016 at 12:28 pm #267568Well, I didnt see an In and Out in Pismo Beach but there was an impressive list of restaurants from Itialian to BBQ. Im checking on hotels in the area for rates.
Spyglass Inn looks nice but on the pricy side. Ill check other places for other options. If anyone has some other suggestions, feel free to chime in.
As for the date, Im thinking that Saturdy May 21 would be nice. Its Armed Forces Day so we can honor our members who served our country. Also, it keeps us away from the Memorial Day weekend traffic rush and higher prices for hotels for those who want to make a weekend of it.
Ok, East Coasters, were following your example, so if you have suggestions on how we can make this day a success and avoid any pitfalls wed be so greatfull. And its understood that wed love to see you there if youre up for an epic road trip!
How about an activity? I was thinking that we could meet in the mid morning for club registration and brunch. We could then find a cruising route through town to let the locals know that tdreplica.com is “in the house”. From there, we could find a beach to chill for the afternoon. After that, those who are heading home will dismiss and those who are staying can head back to their rooms to get ready for dinner. We could then meet for dinner. Sunday, we could see about a tour of Hearst Castle for those who wish. Then its out to dinner and back to the hotel for a good night sleep before our rides home Monday morning.
So, how does it sound?March 30, 2016 at 4:46 pm #267569Sounds from the east coast – I won’t make it this year but I see one big thing missing. The cruise together down the coast or in the mountains.
It could be the drive to get there is the cruise?March 30, 2016 at 5:11 pm #267570Thanks for the great suggestion! It would be a crime for us to drive so far and not pay our respects to PCH.
I plan on taking Hwy 1 all the way to the meet. Its a great road trip and I think it will be easier than all that freeway high speeds and heat on the engine. Also, I plan on a rest for the engine every 75 miles or so. I think that Pismo Beach is a little over 200 miles from my house. I plan on leaving early to keep her out of the mid day heat.
What are some other ideas for a long trip? Ive never taken Eliza Jane that far all at once. Im thinking of towing her to the hotel and driving her from there. What do you all think?April 4, 2016 at 5:14 pm #267571Hey All
Just wanted to keep the ball rolling about our West Coast meet. I was hoping to get some feedback about the date of May 21st and the location of Pismo Beach. Will this work for all of those who want to attend? Let me know so I can make some calls for discounts and incentives.Thanks.
April 4, 2016 at 8:00 pm #267572May 21st is good with me.

April 5, 2016 at 12:27 am #267573Just a thought…we could pop up to San Luis Obispo (10 miles from Pismo) and take the foodie tour.
see; http://www.centralcoastfoodtours.com/san-luis-obispo-tour2
Yule could put something together just for us.
It would probably be $80-$100 Just for the tour 😉
Any thoughts? No trees were injured in the making of this message, but some electrons were inconvenienced.
April 6, 2016 at 7:54 pm #267574That sounds real nice. Were you thinking of doing the food tour on Saturday or Sunday?
April 8, 2016 at 1:46 pm #267575Greetings everyone
Just wanted to follow up with our plans for our day in May. I dont want to offend anyone but we havent had any responses from our friends up north. The purpose of Pismo Beach was to make it a convenient mid point for all of us to attend. So far, weve only had RSVPs from soCal members. Pismo Beach sounds wonderful but it doesnt make sense for us to travel north if only soCal members will attend.
Are there northern members who will attend or should we look for a southern place to meet. Let us know so we can plan, May 21 will be here sooner than we think.
Thanks…
RickMarch 31, 2020 at 1:02 am #306527Hey Gang
I wanted to revive this old post regarding a West Coast meet up. I had started to put something together but we lost momentum and then life got in the way…
As we’re all sitting at home on corona restriction, this might be a good time to revive the idea of a gathering. Besides, once again, Life has brought into focus the things that are really important…Family and Good Friends…And NEVER take Time for granted!!! It’s too darn Precious!!!
Let’s see if we can revive the idea of a West Coast get together, perhaps as soon as this fall, when it’s safer to go out and play??? I still think it’d be Biblical!!! LOL
Any Thoughts?
