Just stumbled upon this topic on Samba, and thought it might be valuable here. It shows how all the cables, shift linkage, etc., are run and contained inside the frame tunnel.
Could be valuable in helping understand what’s in there, and where, before moving shifter linkage, drilling/cutting, etc.Early FF TDr on 69 VW pan

March 2, 2013 at 9:55 am #254754Yes sir. That site Paul posted with the pictures really helped me. I wanted to bend/spread the tubes but didn’t think they would move enough back by the rear of the tunnel. But they moved easily and everything worked out fine. It also helps to know which tube is which back at the rear end of the tunnel. The front end of the tunnel is pretty easy but when you go from three to seven tubes with some tubes criss-crossing it gets a bit confusing. Thanks again for posting that site.

March 2, 2013 at 11:35 am #254756Paul, while on the topic of easy navigation, may I offer a suggestion…
Make it easier to find the old photo gallery files by member — I don’t recall how I found it, but I’ve bookmarked it. I spent HOURS there, and now have a whole folder of pics on my computer with “design ideas and mods”…You may have already addressed this, but I do have to “ditto” the comment about navigation challenges for a newb…Early FF TDr on 69 VW pan
Slowly coming back from the ashes...March 2, 2013 at 9:07 pm #254757I wish.
I don’t have control over that. I’m an admin for membership and forum post management. But don’t have access to the web site code.
Couple years ago, as part of a software upgrade, our founder, FrankieD had to move the entire database. In the URL it says “forum2”; used to be just forum.
There is a sticky thread under Site Input that details how to find the galleries:

March 2, 2013 at 9:49 pm #254758Paul,
How about a sticky topic in the Picture Gallery >> TD Replicas forum, with a link to the old gallery…There’s some great looking cars and a LOT of valuable ideas in that gallery. This might make it more visible to newbs like me, lurkers, or just visitors…Early FF TDr on 69 VW pan
Slowly coming back from the ashes...March 3, 2013 at 2:30 pm #254759Good idea Kent.
The pic gallery section of the forum did not exist when the earlier post went up.
