    @edsnova

Here is the official thread for the 1st Annual Tinker, Clinker, Tech Inspection and Lift-Warming Party at the Brass Hammer Workshop & Pub in Joppa, Maryland.

For those of you whose emails I have–check them. You have invites.
To recap: I have a fully-assembled, fully-functional four-post lift in my ample garage. Club members who may be interested are hereby invited to try it out, Saturday, June 18. I’ll open the door circa 10 a.m. and participants will be able to get their cars up and have a look-see. Also on hand: air tools, a good compressor, an A/C stick welder, a full compliment of wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, hammers, etc., grease . . .
Beer will be available. Lunch will be served.
Please to rsvp so I have a good idea of how to provision.

    Reminder, gentlemen:

So far, only Vicenc has expressed interest.
I’m going to open it up to my drag-racing neighbors as well.
Weather permitting, we’ll probably roll the lift out onto the driveway and re-level it there, so as to have max headroom.

What do you mean, “…drag it out in the driveway” ? You don’t have those posts bolted down?

Nope. No need to bolt down a 4-poster, Bill. And it comes with handy casters for easy mobility.

I’m sitting in a meeting regarding lifts as I’m writing this. I was not aware the light duty units were movable. Way cool.????

Received an RSVP from Richard Wobby! Now we’ve got a party.

Jeep-driving, hot-rodding neighbor Jim is also gonna come. He is a welder by trade.

    Sounds like a good deal.
Hopefully he is up to giving me some mig pointers. I sure need iit.looking for a nice Craigslist welder deal now.
Wooby will make it a party – sounds like fun.

Vicenc says he’s a lock. Dickk says he’s coming. Also my neighbor, Dan, who runs a 406-small-block powered, fully-caged, mini-tubbed Malibu drag car out of his driveway, where it is parked, uncovered, pretty much all the time. He changed his ring and pinion in the driveway last winter.

I also ordered some steel bar to fab up a couple lift jacks to get the wheels up. I used a jack in the included jack tray the other day and it was awkward. I think we can do better.

    Ed,

Dean and I are tentatively still in… Weather sounds like it will be good at this point.

IT looks like the better part of 2.5 plus hours from our area coming up 301 and beyond.
Don’t really like the looks of the Baltimore area ride at all – we are looking for a better route.
    Any ideas?
    Timing of your event?

Schu: doors open at 10. We’ll be at it all day, I guess, or until dinner.

You want to come up 95 or, if you can, use the Baltimore-Washington Parkway. From there take the tunnel, 95 to White Marsh exit and then go Rt 40 or (better yet) 7 to Joppa Farm Road. Should be under two hours.

Dean & Schu are in. So looks like 6-8 guys for the day. Thinking I’ll grill burgers & brats for lunch. Any requests?

    Yeah! BEER. Beer is food.

Sorry I can’t be there and enjoy it all. You folks have a blast. Burn meat and drink beer. 😛

We’ll see if Jimmy shows up, Dale. Then ask him.

Yes, Allen: turn wrenches, then also burn meat and drink a couple cold ones.

Have fun guys. Wish I could be there. Safety Fast!

Schu:  It’s easy if you have a decent machine and gas and get someone else to set the MIG amps and speed up for you.  I beat myself up trying the gas-less flux cored wire.   My welds were weak and ugly – an embarrassment.  Now, with CO2, I’m almost proud of them.

Glad you’re home safe, Schu. Thanks again for coming.

Five guys, five TDrs. Pretty good turnout.
We got a good look at the soft underbellies of several cars. Pretty sure we fixed (?) an off-idle stumble on Dbanta’s car. And Vicenc left six small torsion leaves from his front beam on my ever-growing scrap metal pile.
Oh, yeah: I also definitely burned like six burgers to charred embers. Luckily, we had a few spares.
Thanks again to all for the good fellowship. Let’s do another thing soon.

Liftmas was a great success.  Thanks, Ed, for hosting and letting us play in your garage.  And thanks to Schu, DBanta, and Ed for helping me with the torsion leaves.  If it hadn’t been for these guys my I would never have finished, much less begun, the job.

It was a ton of fun and I really enjoyed out small cruise to Rita’s.
