I need to figure out why either side low beam lights do not work. I’ve checked the bulbs on a battery and they are good.
I need to get to the backside of the foot dimmer switch. Anyone know how to get access to it?
June 29, 2024 at 10:18 pm #308891Check the socket. Sometimes they will melt or loosen where it attaches to the bulb. I had this happen on a Honda Civic and a new socket with pigtail fixed the problem in a jiffy. I hope this helps!
June 30, 2024 at 5:38 am #308892thanks Chris. I did check them and they looked good. I going to have to trace the wires all the way back to the floor dinner switch and then to the dash switch. That’s where I think I’m going to have a issue. Tracing the wires is going to be difficult because they are all hidden behind panels. I’m going to try and get the car way off the floor high enough so I can fit under the car in order to do this. It’s tough at almost 77 years old.
July 26, 2024 at 10:45 am #308966Figured it out. When I looked at the fuse block originally, all the glass fuses looked good and they were. I traced the wiring as far as I could. Noticed that the wiring was a certain color for the low beam. Went to the fuse panel again, located which fuse was on that certain color wiring and removed the fuse. Swapped it out for another one. Did this a couple of times and they started working. The fuse was good but what had happened was that some corrosion had apparently built up under the contacts of the glass fuse. Everything is now good.👍
July 31, 2024 at 1:15 pm #308975I had that issue with a motorcycle fuse block many years ago. What I eventually discovered that corrosion had built up on the clips holding the glass fuse. That caused a heat build up that loosened the solder inside the fuse and it detached itself! My headlight went out at night on a curve – exciting! The fuse looked good by sight, but nothing was passing. I changed to a blade style and it has worked well since. When I bought my FF TD 10 years ago and several switches were burnt out. I rewired it and installed a block holding 12 fuses, as I considered the FF block really inadequate as well as the total lack of relays and one size fits all wire ! Good luck and remember, it’s always a work in progress! Gregg
