Hello everyone, I am a new member and new proud owner of a Daytona MIGI which was apparently built by Daytona Fiberglass Inc. of Holly Hill Fl. Ser #81/53188. Built on a 1970 VW chassis. 1500cc single port. I have had sports cars my whole life, but a kit car is a new experience and I do hope that you can teach an old dog some new tricks. My very first automobile love was a MGTC which pulled into my parents country Inn to rent a room. 1955. We lived way out in the country and I (14yrs old) had never seen anything so beautiful. 12 years later, I rescued (bought myself a basket case) MGTF-1500 as a graduation present from college. It had been dis-assembled and then, unfortunately the owner died. Sweated and worked hard. Got her up and running and it looked terrific when done. After owning her for 17 years, one day a fella offered to trade me even for a 4 year old Porsche 911. I took the offer and found that I really was an old MG person. Hated the Porsche! So, with many many other sports cars in between, my wife said of the MIGI “buy it and get it out of your system”. It’s a beautiful auto. Rides much better than my MGTF. So, I have been reading and studying the forum posts because I really couldn’t invent a better wheel. I have owned a few VW bugs but that was a long time ago so, for all practical putposes, I am starting from scratch both with the car and with the forum. These forums are a wealth of information (I am also an amateur organist and a member of the “organ forum”) that I did not have when building my MGTF. What a wonderful resource of opinions, facts, and technical assistance.

October 31, 2011 at 12:48 pm #246898Great to have you, Roy! Just stick your arm out and merge into the slow lane with the rest of us (or at least, those with VW powerplants). Here’s hoping you get some decent cruising weather in North Carolina before winter shuts you down.
