OK guys, here it is. As good as she’s gonna get.
As my Dad would have said: “She runs like a scared rabbit.” Now to spit and polish for Carlisle.Hope you like it:I will bring my camera and the suction cup mount to Carlisle. If you are attending and would like a video for your library, bring a blank 16 GB SD card. (Not a micro SD.) We’ll plug my setup onto your windshield. You get to keep the SD card that you brought. This was also my first ever video, as well as first Youtube.May 3, 2013 at 4:30 pm #255707OK, a garage with TWO refrigerators.

"Drive Happy"May 3, 2013 at 4:39 pm #255708Well done, Roy. You spent the time to get it right — it sounds good and strong. Not only no flat spots, but accelerates well from low speed in higher gears. Well done, indeed! BTW, I also appreciate all the tuning specs in the text on YouTube… 🙂

May 3, 2013 at 7:40 pm #255710Cool Roy. I’m going to have to hook up with you and check out your ride in person.
SamMay 3, 2013 at 7:44 pm #255711Excellent video Roy. Very nicely done. What type of video camera and mount did you use? Did you use any type of
external microphone?Allen Caron

For those unfamiliar, I, too, tried my hand at the video machine a couple years back, and got to drive Bridget on the Baltimore Grand Prix track. She was much faster than usual that day.
May 3, 2013 at 9:41 pm #255713Thanks guys. Its just a pocket sized digital camera. Built in microphone. Not a video cam. Most digitals have a movie mode. Plus a suction cup camera mount that I bought last week on ebay for $22.
As for the AutoX: I’ll be “500 miles away from home” and just want to survive and cross it off my bucket list.May 3, 2013 at 9:51 pm #255714Cool Roy – I enjoyed – looking forward to cruising and autocrossing w/ you guys in a couple of weeks.
May 4, 2013 at 2:00 pm #255715Ed, just watched your video. Did your TD once have an Offenhauser engine in it?

May 4, 2013 at 7:47 pm #255717John, the vid I did used a borrowed gopro, plus a couple of other video cameras and some professional rigging I borrowed from a friend of a friend who works on movies. I also borrowed a very expensive digital audio recorder and microphones for the in-car dialogue on the other scenes, which are available here, albeit in what looks like random order. (Just scroll down for the embedded video player)
Ended up splitting it into a bunch of short vids when, on deadline day, we found that YouTube would not accept the whole 22 minute video in one chunk.
May 4, 2013 at 7:59 pm #255718ED very nicely done …fun to watch
May 6, 2013 at 8:47 pm #255719Roy. Did you use a goose neck suction cup mount and where did you afix (how’s that for an english word) it?

"If one thing matters, everything matters" - from the book The ShackMay 6, 2013 at 9:52 pm #255720Allen, I logiked (if it isn’t a word, it ought to be) that a suction cup mount “affixed” on the inside of the windshield would protect the camera and if it fell off, it might fall inside the car. So, I bought one of this one on ebay.
Well, I had a faulty logik circuit. The mount I linked above will not adjust below horizontal. So, when mounted on our windshield which has a slight rear slant, it only shot the stars. Not very flexible or adaptable for use inside a windshield. To be fair, if you affixed the mount upside down on the inside of the windshield and actually hung the camera from it, then it would have worked. But then the video would have been upside down.I thought of using it and nailing our furniture to the ceiling but Julie said “NO”.
(She also didn’t like it when I turned our TV upside down.) Sometimes she gets cranky.
This is my second attempt at a suction cup mount, also from ebay:It’s much more flexible. Fairly well made, and relatively inexpensive. Works well on my rather light camera. I think it would be ok for anything but a heavy SLR. Plus, it was made in America. Incredible eh?? I considered using one of the gooseneck variety but my experience with microphones and goosenecks is that they get jiggly. The second one I bought is quite solid.May 6, 2013 at 10:04 pm #255721Thanks Roy. Got one on order from the bay using the second link you gave. I want to get as much of what I need on line BEFORE our government makes us pay taxes for on-line purchases.
