Good morning.
As many of you know, there is a chance tdreplica.com will disappear at the end of October.
Only one person has full admin rights and acccess to the host service. And our attempts to reach Frank have, so far, produced no results.
We can not lose the valuable resource we have….so I have created a new forum at:
http://tdreplica.proboards.com/index.cgi
I suggest you go register NOW!
All members require approval. So we are safe from spammers.
So far there is just one general forum. I will creating area similar to those we have here.
The good news is proboards forums are free.
The bad news is it will never be as content rich as tdreplica.com. I suggest anyone wanting build manuals or any of the other info here download your own copies before October 31. I have been gradually downloading content and copying other pages.
Hopefully, we will NOT lose tdreplica.com. But at least we have an alternative!

October 22, 2010 at 11:39 am #242600Paul, What is an alphanumeric character? I have tried using a combination of capital and lower case letters along with numbers but it always changes the capital letters to lower case and shows the user name as invalid. Every thing about the application works except the user name.
Thanks for all you are doing to keep tdreplica .com going.Anything is better than losing it all.
October 22, 2010 at 1:02 pm #242601Thanks Paul,
I just checked and we have nine days left here, the registration has not been renewed as of this morning. I believe this portion of the site is thru Web Wiz Forums, and is hosted separate, but still belongs to Frank. I have saved all my personal photos that are in this site to Photobucket already. The registry graphics and spreadsheet feed to this site from Photo bucket already. Like Paul said copy all the downloadable manuals from here in case they get lost. Frank has ownership so we do not have access to the site files and folders, but we can collect what we can that is allowed to us.
I suggest that everyone make use of the free photo hosting sites, such as Photobucket to store photos. We also have the sister Yahoo group where some files can be stored.
Thanks again Paul,
James
October 22, 2010 at 5:54 pm #242602Larry,
“alpha-numeric” only means they want you to use letters and numbers, with no “special characters.
I’m not sure if “case” matters. try doing your user id in all lower case letters and see if that works.

October 22, 2010 at 7:23 pm #242604Paul,
If we do switch to the new site, will you need any contributions to assist in running the site? If so I’ll ber happy to contribute. Just let me know.Allen Caron

October 22, 2010 at 9:12 pm #242607Hi gang
I already saved copies of every page on the site and all the manuals from the download page.
I also copied the Registry thread as of today and Mark’s VW Front suspension thread.
I have NOT copied any other major threads from the FORUM. And as you all know, there is a ton of stuff here.

October 23, 2010 at 6:22 pm #242610Thanks so much for keeping on top of this Paul.
I know this club means too much to all of us to let it get dropped. I remember a few years ago when the site dropped off for awhile. Talk about me panicking! I just hope Frank is okay and doing well. It would be great to hear from him so we don’t worry about him.
October 23, 2010 at 6:56 pm #242611Had a devil of a time registering! I think that I am on now. Thanks for all of your efforts. One suggestion-copy your original message about the problem to all forums. Not everyone reads other than “their” forum, whether it be VW, front engine or whatever. I’m sure that many if not most are unaware of the situation.

October 24, 2010 at 12:34 am #242613Hi gang,
One thing, let’s try to keep the conversation here and avoid the new forum until we really need it.
Hopefully this site will remain up.
No sense duplicating things until we actually lose it here.

October 24, 2010 at 7:10 am #242614Hi Paul,
I downloaded the whole site up to Oct 22, 2010 using a program I downloaded off the internet. I put everything onto a DVD. When you click on it, it comes up in IE just as it does from the internet. The only thing that seems to be missing is the navigation bar on the left, but the files (Manuals, articles etc) are in the download. The Photo Gallery also did not get downloaded, do I redownloaded just the Photo Gallery and all of the uploads are there. I don’t know if these files can be uploaded to a new site. I have some familiarity with creating a website but never worked with forums. I have these on DVD’s if anyone would like them.

October 24, 2010 at 9:14 am #242616Thanks for the suggestion dbrock.
I always click the “Active Topics” link at the top. That displays all new posts since the last time you logged in.
But you are right. Others may use the forum differently. SO I’ll copy the initial post and lock it so that any conversation happens in this thread.
Thanks.

October 24, 2010 at 10:50 am #242617Yes it did. I haven’t gone through everything but it does appear to be all there, up to 10-22-2010. That’s the day I downloaded it. I left it downloading overnight and it wasn’t finished yet. It took 23+ hours to dowload. Checking the download again, I found that the photo gallery did get downloaded afterall. Except there maybe one or two folders missing.

October 28, 2010 at 1:14 pm #242621Since our clock is ticking on this site,
here is the link to the current registry map http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o348/jascochran/map13.jpg
here is the link to the spreadsheet http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o348/jascochran/reg13.png
These are linked outside of this site and will not go away. If we do lose this site and need to use the new forum that Paul has set up, the registry map and spreadsheet will be linked there. I checked last night and this site has not been renewed at that time.
We still have the Yahoo group at

October 28, 2010 at 1:48 pm #242622Thanks to all you guys who are working hard to save all that is saveable. It really means a lot to those of us who are computer challenged. We will get thru this somehow. Hope most of the ”real” members can make the transition.
October 29, 2010 at 1:46 am #242623Its great that all of you have grabbed the archives. I have plenty of web space that I pay for each year any way. My son has built forums for ESPN, UMAX mma and others he has looked at the site and says he can Rebuild a similar site and forum easily, so I purchased today the Domain name TDREPLICA.org. I think with everyones efforts we can keep this going as is or very close. Its really important to me and I know it is to all of you too. Who are the admins for the site now and do you still want to be the admins? My son says he can set this all up for us.
Will
