    @dougsgarage

    I am the new owner of a Chevette based MG TD kit. I believe it to be a Fiberfab kit from the ads and websites I am starting to research. It has been passed from owner to owner over the last 20 years, each contributing a little work or abuse. As such it has seen its share of wear. Call it an impulse or maybe the burrito I had for dinner, but at least both were cheap. It consists of a rolling chassis with engine/trans, most major fiberglass unattached still wrapped, and assorted soft trim in bags. Most of the fittings ,hinges and small parts have been lost over the years so I believe I will be begging for help for some time to come. This I flat-towed back from the Midwest to my little Las Vegas shop. I was encouraged to see so many enthusiasts on this forum who share a passion for the simple pleasure of building and restoring these machines. But isn???t this what grand dreams are made of ? Such dreams call for grand effort. I hope to be trading information and ideas in the near future.

    Welcome Doug.  We could “blame it on the bossa nova”……or maybe the burrito.

    My experience is that the more pictures you post, the more help you will get.  Many of us are old and can’t read very well but enjoy looking at the pictures and will make sure that you have the engine in the correct end of the car etc.

    Yeah! Go, Doug, go!

    Here’s the web site for MG Magic, which has many of the little Fiberfab parts from these kits.
    Lots of other stuff you can get from Moss motors, Abingdon Spares, Rimmer Bros. and several other venders of old British car parts. Check prices because they do vary appreciably.
    Also, for a lot of generic hardware, boat stuff is recommended. Heavy duty.
    There is also a Chevette guru that another member will put you in touch with.
    Welcome to the club. Yer gonna have fun.
    (One small thing: I noticed you triple-posted your intro. No need to do that; in fact, I deleted the one under “events.” We’re trying to organize the site so it will be searchable later, so it’s best to come up with a descriptive topic heading and post it once in the appropriate forum.)

    Note from Paul: Thanks Ed! One other small thing, I moved Ed and Bill’s posts to thi thread and deleted the remaining duplicate.)

    Thanks for the warm wlcome. Will gather up the loose peices and put some photos up. I am in the process of rebuilding the engine with new seals and gaskets since it sat for sooo long. Had the head milled and valves done. Thats the easy part. The body work will be the challange. I know right now I need a complete windsheild and frame. Door hardware and all hinges. Haven’t opened the upholstery bags yet. So you think there is hope ?

    Garage envy!  If someone gave me a garage that looked like that I could fill ‘er up no time flat.  Mess her up even faster.  I’m just not an organized, spit-shined-garage kind of guy.  As Clint said in one of the Harry movies:  “a good man always knows his limitations”.
