Slowly coming back from the ashes...June 20, 2013 at 10:50 am #256693Decent car. But I hate the owner’s attitude.
“I’ve driven this car to places like L.A. and Las Vegas without a single problem. NON-STOP! Try that in a VW!”Really? OK! I did. My VW TD went from New Jersey to Cincinnatti. Non-stop. Over 630 miles. Vegas to LA? 266 miles! Oh…and the next year I went to Indianapolis, over 700 miles.“These front engine Chevy replicas perform and drive better than the VW rear engine models.”Really? Somebody better tell Ed “Autocross” Ericsen to slow down!“NOTE: Will not fit anyone taller than 5 foot 11.”Too bad. I’m 6′ 2″ and fit my Duchess fine!“…one of the nicest MGTD replicas in the entire country.”Um…yes, nice car. But this guy needs to get out more. I’m just sayin!I’m done ranting now. But I feel better!Paul Mossberg

June 20, 2013 at 12:28 pm #256694The ride height is excessive. I showed the photo here at work and everyone asked if it was a 4WD conversion.

Slowly coming back from the ashes...June 20, 2013 at 12:43 pm #256696I agree Bill. The ride height is at least 2″ too high. It looks to be a nice car, but I also agree with Paul – he’s got an attitude.

Don’t think the superlatives helped too much! 😀Early FF TDr on 69 VW pan

Slowly coming back from the ashes...July 7, 2013 at 10:25 pm #256699I’m wondering about the Arizona “Historical Vehicle” license plate. I thought most states used the donor car/engine year for reg.

July 8, 2013 at 8:30 am #256700My is titled as a “1974 VW” but the VIN is “SOSXXXXXXX” where SOS is the Illinois Secretary of State and the XXXXXXX is a number the SOS assigned to vehicle when they inspected it after assembly. As such it would be eligible for historic license plates since it is over 25 years old.
July 8, 2013 at 11:14 am #256701Mine is titled in TN as a ’69 VW, and I could’ve put antique tags on it. I chose not to, because I didn’t want to live with the constraints on driving it that those plates impose…

Slowly coming back from the ashes...July 8, 2013 at 8:20 pm #256702In MD it’s antique after 25 years. So my 1982 build date rated the “Historic” tag–never mind the ’69 chassis, ’66 engine or ’52 styling.
