Like the topic says yesterday was an odd day to build Moneypenny. Started with building the engine. Got the crank in the stand and started heating the gears and the pot holding the oil leaked out the oil. Caught it BEFORE a fire started in the grass. So…put all that up and started the seats. wood cut, foam ready, upholstery ready and stapler handy. Got the passenger seat ready to staple and after two staples….nothing. Stapler broke. So figured I better quit while I was ahead and called it quits.
Today I buy a new staple gun and staples and a small fry daddy and continue the build. Supposed to be sunny and 70. Great day to get er done!
Also going to change the name Moneypenny to FM1876…my TD kit serial number

Slowly coming back from the ashes...February 9, 2014 at 1:48 pm #259602I think “Moneypenny” is a better name.

February 9, 2014 at 5:14 pm #259604Well I got what I needed to do the work I started yesterday. Got the gears on the crank and the rods installed and set the crank in the case. Tomorrow after work I should have the engine case together. Since the engine tin is painted a flat black capable of 1200 degree heat, I added a coat of Midnight Black Metallic to all the tin. Looks great if I do say so myself.

"Drive Happy"February 9, 2014 at 6:52 pm #259606I thought that storm moved out into the Atlantic. But you have a garage and can do the work indoors right? Bill how’s the TD running? Ed how is the Soob coming along?
After some consideration and suggestions, Moneypenny is still her name!newkitman2014-02-09 18:52:51

"If one thing matters, everything matters" - from the book The ShackFebruary 9, 2014 at 7:00 pm #259607I’ve not been in the garage this weekend. Got roped into writing a feature story on the current state of the regional power market, so I’m hip-deep in filings from the Public Service Commission, the PJM (that’s the regional power administrator) and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Sample sentence (this from a simplified FAQ regarding PJM’s Residual Auction):
???The EFORd value that may be submitted in a generation resource offer in a Base Residual Auction may range from zero to the maximum EFORd value for a generation resource. The maximum EFORd that may be submitted in a generation resource offer in a Base Residual Auction is the maximum of the BRA EFORd1 yr or BRA EFORd5 yr.???
Hopefully I’ll get back after it next weekend.
Still snowing here as well.

"If one thing matters, everything matters" - from the book The ShackJune 5, 2014 at 3:11 pm #259614Im so glad you kept the name Moneypenny. Its one of the best car names Ive ever seen. Our cars look like something right out of Qs lab and James would be proud to be behind the wheel.
As I am rebuilding Eliza Jane, Im looking to put some hidden Bond gadgets throughout. Ill keep you posted and Im open to ideas.
I wont comment on the Southern Californian weather as I dont want to get bood from my East Coast friends.June 5, 2014 at 9:17 pm #259615After being away for almost a month it was time to check the status of everything and get set to restart. Engine is built and only needs the muffler tightened and then the engine installed. But have to put in the throw-out bearing first. Got that done and then Linda told me we are under a severe storm warning. So work stoppage until tomorrow after work. Sure feels good to be back building moneypenny. 😛

On my last trip I left my camera at the hotel but they shipped it to me and I got it Saturday. Will have to clean up Moneypenney and get some pics of the work uploaded. About to start the wiring installation. Oh joy. Still hunting down new wheels and tires while trying to keep costs down.

4 165-80R15 Classic All Season LL800 mfg 2009. Mounted new late 2010. Have about 1,000 miles on them. Mostly while being towed (Carlisle 2012). Removed when I installed the 14″ wires you located for me. In my shed since. Look and feel new…or super close to new. Wheels are not rusted and after 5 minutes roughing up with sandpaper could be sprayed. They are black with peeling paint.Spare is Firestone S-211 165SR15. Unknown age. Good tread. No noticeable cracking or dry rot. Wheel is pitted and painted silver. OK, but not nearly as pretty as the others. All 5 tires are mounted and balanced and still had 25# pressure since storing over 2 years ago.Royal2014-07-29 10:18:56

Tomorrow its the rear fenders and then the engine OR steering column so I can install the dash and defroster unit (69 defroster unit). Moving along slow but steady.
