    I’ve seen those before.  An open elevator was used.  That would NEVER pass safety standards today!  lol
     
    Boy… I wish I could spend .25 for a gallon for petrol these days!  😉

    Yep! That was back in the day when filling stations were called garages because they had a couple of service bays and they had filling station attendendants to fill er up, wash the windshield, check oil and tire pressure. All part of the service back then. And I can remember my folks driving to Albany NY from the Berkshires in Mass. because gas there was .21.9 cents a gallon rather than 26.9.
