Well, we finally finished the new wiring, and it turned out better than you might expect. Using the American Autowire Hwy 15 kit was perfect for the car, and if you follow instructions, everything is easy as pie. Put the car on the road for the first time today…. a short run before I change the plugs, the oil, and do a tune up. THEN, after we get back home from seeing the grandkids, we’ll show the car!

Wow, wiring that’s easy as pie!?  I’m jealous.   Good for you!

    Happy motoring!

When I say easy as pie, I mean that it took two of us three weeks to properly wire the car. Soldered joints, shrink wrap, try, confirm operation, then move on. Every wire was labeled, such as left front turn signal, every 6 to 8 inches. My buddy and I were meticulous about how we did the rewire, and that eliminated all those ugly bugs that usually pop up.

Of course, this is not the first car I have ever done, I’m 63 years old and have been a gear head for 55 of them. This is the second day out with the car, and all seems just fine.

That’s more like it!  Three weeks is easy when you’re dealing with wiring.  Nice, well marked kits and a second set of eyes/hands/brains are the only way to go!

I feel better about my skills now.
