We got near enough to our price to let it go, and I made sure the new guy, Mike, knows that this is the place to come for great advice and encouragement. The Falcon came today, and while it needs a bit more work than we would have hoped for, it wasn’t that far from what we expected. We both think that our 3K budget is ample enough to make her shine…[Read more]

Luvmytd is NOT biased. He is VERY old, and a little dotty, so we cut him some slack We all know who has the sweetest MG in The VillagesGreg

Greg Stickney replied to the topic Selling the car in the forum General Discussion 14 years, 5 months ago
That’s the car. My wife and I like to travel around the state for the car shows, and frankly, my bride says the MG can be scary on the highway. And since we ALL know that if SHE ain’t happy, you won’t be happy, she’s getting her way. We bought a 1963 Falcon Convertible, red and white.

This event shows that there are some really great people out there willing and able to help when you need it the most. That said, a $20 and a cell phone will almost always get you home.Greg

Greg Stickney replied to the topic Replacement Fuel tanks in the forum General Discussion 14 years, 6 months ago
I have the Ford engine, and I also have to fill slower than normal. Not bad, just slower. The location of the tank and the ensuing bends in the fill tank are the cause for the slow fill. Also, there is no vent line from the tank to the fill cap, so the tank is always “chugging” as it fills. We had to add one to the Shelby to eliminate this same…[Read more]

Got My new grill badge yesterday! Nearby is a shop that caters to the big rigs, and they sell a chrome bracket shaped like a P upside down, in the exact size of my badge bar, and… they sell them in two sizes!I think chrome will work very nicely!Greg

Greg Stickney replied to the topic Door Latches in the forum General Discussion 14 years, 7 months ago
I have NEVER had a door pop open, sorry if I gave that impression, but I am unhappy with the door lock assembly. And since I have been building/restoring, or otherwise altering cars for over 50 years, I am confident that I can handcraft whatever parts I will need. At first blush, it does not look that difficult, but then again, neither did getting…[Read more]

Greg Stickney replied to the topic Door Latches in the forum General Discussion 14 years, 7 months ago
The issue is that the bolt, that part that actually holds the door closed, is VERY stiff, and will not engage the striker plate easily. Forcing the issue by slamming the door will only crack the fiberglass, which we all know is VERY bad. I ordered the new latches yesterday, along with the new striker plates. These actuators are well known in the…[Read more]

Greg Stickney replied to the topic A $60,000 TD replica? in the forum General Discussion 14 years, 7 months ago
Nice car, but 60K? Just how much of a market do they think there is? I think that those of us that own MG kit cars now, either VW or front engine, own the REAL MG kit cars. We care for them, baby them, take pride in them. Buying a 60K MG replicar vs a new corvette…hmmmm.Greg

Speed is all about the amount of hp that reaches the rubber. I was turning low 9’s with my hemi, but ate rubber like crazy. It always comes to hp to weight and delivering the hp to the road.I love my MG and the close ratio 4 speed makes it fun to drive.Greg
