    @mark-k

    Got a show coming up and want to paint the inside of my engine cover, to finish off the engine compartment.

    I thought about using an enamal engine paint because of the heat in the compartment etc. plus it will dry almost on contact, but not sure if it will work on Fiberglass or not?.

    mark I used a can of black rustoleum paint (rattle can) from home depot.

    also I took my hood off and taped the edges with painters tape ,That way I didn’t have to worry about overspray on the car . I also did the whole engine compartment. ray102012-03-12 22:17:03

    Mark,

    I used a can of  paint designed for wood stoves you can get many different colors if you go to a stove shop. Home depot only has black. I even painted the muffler

    Greg,

    And I thought I was the only one!
    I use matte black hi-temp bar-b-q grill paint on my muffler too!

    If I painted my engine compartment would that mean I would have to clean it first

    I believe anything you paint has to be cleaned first, otherwise, the paint won’t stick.

    MGLondon….

    When you meet Wobby and his TD, his comment will make much more sense.

    Until then trust me, he wasn’t really making a serious observation on painting his engine compartment or on paint prep in general. Ermm
