Sorry for the long silence, but I’ve been busier than a one armed wallpaper hanger.
Fort Monmouth officially closed (very sad) last Thursday, 15 September 2011. I was officially retired at midnight that night…42 years, 1 month and 4 days is says for my service time.
We had no computers or phones since mid-August.
Why am I busy??? My home sale closing is scheduled for the week of 9 October. I am trying to empty the house of all the stuff I accumulated over the 48+ years (on and off) I’ve lived here. Been here full time since 1984 when returned as a caretaker for my Dad (alzheimer’s/cancer/heart disease) so my mother could stay in her home. I became her caretaker shortly after he passed in 1991 until she passed in 2001.
I have so much stuff, mostly tool and car related I should be spanked. I have space at my bay at the NWS Earle Navy base Auto Hobby Shop where my 40 Ford Sreetrod is located and I rented a 12x30x12 storage unit locally to store car stuff. There are 3 VW Beetles in it now. I bought used pallet racking from an old Home Depot and built a 10’x12′ loft to keep stuff off the floor space. Some stuff will come to the Tuckerton condo with me…it has a 12’x24′ garage!
I am also taking a hostile “ex” back to court to stop paying alimony because she got half my 401K and gets half my pension. She wants alimony too and refuses to have the NJ Probabtion people notified to stop collecting it from me. If I don’t pay, I get arrested and put on the revoked driver’s license list. NJ SUCKS!
The Lemon-Law litigation on my 2009 GMC Canyon is also coming to an end 12 October. GM will have to buy it back. It’s been over a year in litigation.
I am moving 56 miles south on the NJ Shore temporarily…Tuckerton, NJ (Egg Harbor Township) anytime after 03 October when the lease starts.
On the health front I am having problems that the urologist said can wait until the dust settles, but no longer. Bummer, but not getting me down. Cardiac stents are doing fine after 11+ years and the doc says I’m good there.
Other than that stuff, I think I am enjoying retirement
Well, back to sorting and packing
September 22, 2011 at 8:24 pm #246627Sounds like a lot to manage, Mark. Here’s to good health in retirement.
And getting back to TD cruising.
September 23, 2011 at 11:00 am #246628Don’t know you but I wish you the best of luck. Sounds like you have a plate full.
September 23, 2011 at 11:22 am #246629Mark, Glad you made it !!It’s sad that at what’s supposed to be the time of your life that you’ve looked forward to is still filled with so much ”stuff”’. We wish you well. Knowing you,I’m confident that you will get thru all this and come out on top.Keep us posted as you have the time. You are still needed here.
September 23, 2011 at 2:14 pm #246630Thanks guys…”this too shall pass” and “one day at a time” come in handy at times like this.
All this will settle down in a month or two. Then on to some serious “playing with cars”
