Every so often we get a car in the showroom that is so unique, all of our employees step back to admire how cool and different it is. This 1953 MG TD Replica
is one of those cars. It’s an antique MiGi II kit car that utilizes a Fiberfab body mated to a Volkswagen Beetle frame. For the enthusiast that is looking for a vintage
sports car to dart around in on a sunny day, this MG TD replica might be the ideal candidate.
A unique feature about these MiGi II cars is Fiberfab used an actual MG TD for the design and tooling of the fiberglass body panels. In fact, some parts are actually
interchangeable with an MG body. Those fiberglass panels are covered in a two-tone tan and brown paint scheme. The paint still lays smoothly on the body panels
and you can trust Fiberfab went through the correct processes to ensure long lasting durability with this body. Walking around the car, it certainly looks like a true
MG TD to the naked eye. But the trained eye of a VW enthusiasts will notice small features from their beloved Beetle such as the head lights, front turn signals and
rear tail lamps. The head lights frame a tall and elegant grill that is a great feature of the exterior of this car. At the rear of the car is a full size spare mounted to what
you would be led to believe is the trunk, but being this is a VW chassis it is actually the engine cover. That vintage style rests on 15” wheels wearing nostalgic wired hub caps.
Inside is a simple tan interior that features a bench seat covered in pleated vinyl facing a real wood dash. Mounted in the dash is the speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge,
amperage gauge, water temperature gauge, switches for the lights and windshield washer, and an AM/FM/Cassette player. The door panels are covered in matching tan vinyl
and feature and convenient cargo pocket on each one. Underneath the dash are a pair of speakers wired to the radio, and behind the seats is a small space big enough to fit a
couple of day bags if you decided to go on a weekend trip. The driver takes control with a great looking 3-spoke, wood grain steering wheel. If you find that the weather may
bring some questionable elements while your MG is parked outside, there is a vinyl cover that snaps in to keep the interior nice and dry. Also providing protection is the convertible
top that folds back behind the seat with plastic windows that will zip up for wet weather driving.
As you might expect, the power for this fun little car comes from a familiar VW 1600 cc flat four cylinder. The peppy dual port engine is sourced from a 1973 Beetle. It fires to life
with ease and settles into a smooth idle that produces a recognizable exhaust tone. Power is sent to a 4-speed manual transmission that is also a familiar feel for a Beetle enthusiast.
Being that Beetles are known to be extremely easy cars to work on, you should feel confident that this car brings the same agreements. This car was developed with the home
mechanic in mind, the type of people who enjoy working with their hands. The chassis is very simple and is intimate to anyone that knows their way around a vintage VW. Drum brakes
handle stopping duties and 185/60/15 tires put all of the fun to the pavement.
Cars like this are a rare opportunity to enjoy vintage sports car appeal and style in a reliable, easy to work on chassis and drivetrain. It will induce stares from onlookers and bring out
compliments from anyone that gets a chance to ask you about it. For our asking price, it’s certainly a lot of bang for the buck. Call today! Check this ad at MCG Marketplace:
