    @oldmg

    I’m the 3rd or 4th owner and a lot of the work previously done is shabby. At any rate I removed the rear shocks and don’t know if they are the correct ones. The back of the car sits low. The instructions say TRW 80802 which are not made. Replacement on this site mentioned Monroe 31538. Is that still the case? Those posts were from 2009.  I’m guessing the springs are from a Chevette as this is a Chevette motor etc, Any help would be appreciated.

    That number shock fits Beetles ’67-’77  if that helps.

    @edsnova

    I’d try Rock Auto and look for the rear shocks for a 1977 Chevette.

    And remember, ride height should not be adjusted with the shocks.

    Shock absorbers are just that, they control bounce and rebound.

    If your car is truly sitting too low, it is more likely the springs. I’m not sure what other adjustments might be available for your Chevette based suspension.
