John,
It might not be the float. It could be accumulated crud from sitting for so long. VW carbs are easy to clean. Muir will tell you how to do it.
You need a new grill badge. They’re available on the TD forum home page.
Pretty car. The dogs go well with it. Is it the car that makes the dogs look good or the dogs that make the car look good?

I have had 2 problems with mine, driving it one day it cut out, bad connection replaced all wire connections. Last drive of the season it quite running AAA picked it up delivered it to my house a hour later it started ,put it away for winter.Possible fuel filter maybe stickey float .I have been in contact with a vw expert. He will go over it in the spring.I am told mine is a 1600cc 85 horse. Whats yours?I bought mine from vintage motor sports in Westbrook Conn. Sight unseen.Every where i go i get alot of questions.I have been asked twice is that a royals royce, one older man asked? Does that have 12 cylinders .Dick Shears a member here seems to have alot of info on london roadsters
December 24, 2011 at 7:44 am #248113Greg, I hope is isn’t your VW expert that told you that you had a 1600cc 85hp. If it is a 1600, you probably have about 54 hp.
December 24, 2011 at 10:35 am #248114no it was the information that came with the car said it was.We will have to wait to spring to find out. greg press40901.6465625
December 24, 2011 at 10:37 am #248115Greg, If you’re not planning on running your TD for a few months, you might want to put Stabil in your gas (esp the carb).
December 24, 2011 at 11:57 am #248116I plan on starting it once a week all winter long.
December 24, 2011 at 12:43 pm #248117Much better idea…..”no use is abuse”.
December 24, 2011 at 1:47 pm #248118If you don’t plan on using the tank up over the next two or three months, do yourself a favor & put some gas saver in there as well. sta-bil, sea foam, something.
January 5, 2012 at 7:39 pm #248119I usually get out several times a week depending on my work schedule and temps..
Also I am changing out the tires. The tires are too big(tall) 165 /86 15 . It should be 165/ 80 15.The sprare was correct ..
Thanks to this site I found an excellent V W guy who specializes in old air cooled V W’s- Darrell Phillip, Silver Lake V.W. Wilmington, NC. Darrell did a good job tuning up the MG TD when I got home from Roanoke VA
January 5, 2012 at 8:43 pm #248120Nice pic.
January 7, 2012 at 12:55 pm #248121I agree — excellent lens work.
Did those fog lamps come with the TD, or did you add them?
