Running Board Installation Question

Hey all. Just a quick question on the running boards. Each is secured to the body with four bolts. Do these bolts go through the outer lip of the metal VW floorpan or do they go through just above it?

Allen, on Daytona MiGi, the running board is secured by 3 bolts to the front fender, 2 bolts to the rear fender and 4 bolts just above the VW floorpan.

Ditto on a Classic Roadsters Duchess.

Running boards do NOT attach to the VW pan, only to the fenders and body sides.

Okay. I guess the body and pan flex enough along that point where there will be no water leaking in.
