I am shopping for a Fiberfab MG TD. A “problem” with everyone that I have looked at is that the driver’s seat is too far back. On some cars this is so extreme that I can not fully depress the clutch.
Is this an easy adjustment?August 13, 2014 at 7:29 pm #260958The seat bases are fixed. The seat back is adjustable only in the angle. The pedals are not adjustable. In an extreme case the seat bases can be moved forward and a spacer could be built to move the seat back forward. Every car is different, you can build it to suit you.

"Drive Happy"August 13, 2014 at 8:09 pm #260959Most people should be able to work with the car. Moving the seat back forward would be a pretty easy mod, and the seat base usually just bolts to the floor pan with four bolts. You drill new holes three inches forward and there you go. The only possible problem is that’s only good until your chest hits the steering wheel.
If it’s a VW-based car, the pedal cluster can be moved too, but it’s a bit of a project. Two options to work best:1. Wait to buy a car from someone roughly your size. If they built it for themselves, and they’re within an inch or three of your height, then the car will probably fit you.2. Use a pillow or two to move your but closer to the pedals for your test drive. Or even just test sit. If you can get it so you can work the clutch, and the steering wheel is not yet under your chin, then you can make the car fit you with a Saturday’s labor and $20 worth of parts.August 13, 2014 at 8:11 pm #260960I’m having a new hydraulic clutch and brake system put in my FF, which is
adjustable by about 2″, I had the same problem, I’m vertically challenged,

August 13, 2014 at 8:51 pm #260961A Fiberfab VW based car has flat metal bar extensions from the original pedal cluster to the new cluster that is mounted to the floor pan. It would be an easy fix to just use longer flat steel stock and redrill the holes and move the secondary cluster rearward and closer to your seat if desired. Understand that a longer legged person might find it very tight. Keep the old extensions if you decide to sell so you can return it to the orginal location.

Ten minutes to do, completely reversible, just like the blocks Dad put on your first tricycle.
