I built this spare tire holder out of a piece if 48″ 1.5 inch steel. Basically bent it to shape in a vise and used the excess as reinforcement on the edges. I had to raise the tire higher than the original fiberglass cover because the carb and air cleaner extend beyond the faux gas tank/engine cover. I also had to build som trim to trin out under the wheel. You can see the tire indent where the original fiber glass cover was. Not sure what to do about that. the total cost of materials was about $20. Just thought I would share. This was based on a design shu did on hid TDr.
Dean, I had forgotten that you had a Daytona MiGi. I tried every which way to fit a spare to the trunk, finally gave up and put a donut under the bonnet. I posted a few pictures of the MiGi fake fuel tank and continential kit on the TDr photo pages. A Daytona is the only TDr that I am aware of which can not carry a rear mounted spare without making a significant number of compromises.
