I need to replace the steering damper on my car. Is one from JCW as good as any or should I be looking for a diffrent brand? Thanks

    Charlie,

It’s not really the company you purchase the part from. Its who the company purchases the part from that’s important. CIP1, Bughaus, ISP West, Airhead Parts, Mid America Motorworks, JC Whitney and the rest all offer the same parts, its the manufacturer of choice for them. You always get what you pay for. I’d try to get a good German part and if too expensive for your wallet, go Brazilian. Hope this helps. BTW, I use either CIP1 or Mid America.

Wolfsburg West…Air Cooled.net…are two of the top vendors for OEM German VW parts. Get the little bushing that goes into the center link for the dampner mount too.

Unfortunately, the VW aftermarket is the WORST for quality because most of it comes from China. German parts are double and triple the cost and getting scarcer by the minute. However, I still buy German VW parts over others if they are available…it’s worth it.

Ok Wolfburg, Air Cooled, JCW and most others all have the same part no. so I guessing that they are made in the same place and form what I can tell that would be IAP. I have also found Moog, Gabriel and Boge. But I haven been able to find were any of them are made. What I took off is a Boge but I dont know if that is what came on the car new. Except for Moog they are all about the same price. So are there any of these that I should stay away from? Thanks
