    @winnipaw

    Does anyone have an opinion about the best year VW steering shaft to use on the Fiberfab MGTD. I believe I have a 1971[shaft] and It just doesn’t fit the way it should. The shaft mounted key cylinder is too low, even with making adjustments. I read, somewhere, that the earlier shafts are a little better fit. Maybe 1968 or earlier. I’m new to this forum and would like to be active. So far I’m having a good time with the car. Cant wait to start cruising it. Gotta get it fixed up a bit for safety sake. Good to be here.

    check out: http://www.thesamba.com/VW

    Join their forum and start asking questions. I am not sure what year VW started the shaft mounted ignition switch.

    My VW based car had a plain column with the blinkers and ignition switch mounted on the dash.

    There are companies like Flaming River and IDIDIT that would probably have a column that would work great too.
