I am at my witts end . Today i take my car out travel all around making sure no more wheel bearing problems or carb problems.Run great sounds good . Come home my wife says lets go to the mall and out to dinner i’m thrilled she usually doesn’t suggest taking my car. Off we go 20 minutes later I’m calling a tow truck. Quit will not start. Called my mechanic bitched him out 4th time same problem.
On a nicer note.A friend of mine called to tell me my car was featured on a broschure of a local car show that i entered last year.At the time one of the judges told me he wished they had a cadigory for this type of car they had never seen anything built like this .I guess there way of giving me a trophy was featured car on broschure . To bad i can’t go my car is in the shop.August 3, 2012 at 9:18 pm #251256Dang. That’s always the way, isn’t it? She quits when the wife’s aboard. . .

How is the metal tube that runs along the top of the cylinder tin positioned? If its leaning on the cylinder head it could be getting too hot and percolating the fuel causing a vapor lock. Just a thought.Allen Caron

I replaced the gas cap with a new one because i lost the old .My gas cap was from a boat and it was vented throug the cap with tiny holes new one no holes in cap . Problem solved. I hope
August 8, 2012 at 8:12 pm #251261I did that once. I replaced a gas cap that was non vented and had gas problems until I figured it out.
Randy in Chandler Arizona, great B-bopp'in teritory. I must have the only one in the country made by Rich Industries in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, on a 1986 Ford Cortina (english ford escort) It's a 1600cc straight four cylinder front engne, 4 speed, changed from right side driver to left side with several shafts and u-joints. BEBOP because I once had an MGB with license plate MG-BEPOP in Virginia.
August 8, 2012 at 10:28 pm #251262Greg -My London Roaster has the same vented cap.
I do not have any other vent besides the hole in the cap.. Let me know how your new cap works out’tHx -
